Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is currently in critical condition, after making, what looked to be, a routine tackle in tonight's NFL football game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

He received CPR on the field, after collapsing and is currently at a Cincinnati hospital.

    The game has been postponed.

I am praying tonight for this young man, his family, his teammates, his fans...all while wondering why this has become such a common thing here of late?

    What is going on?

    I have my own thoughts.
    What say you?

Serious sports injuries seem to be increasing, especially in football. I pray he fully recovers.

The only other NFL player to die on the field did so in 1971.  Chuck Hughes (Chicago Lions) died from a heart attack at the age of 28.  Not from a hit but from clogged arteries.

And play continued, although no one bothered to even try to score - just run out the remaining time.

Time will tell (hopefully) but it really didn't appear that football caused that collapse.

I agree, I don’t believe that the game itself has anything to do with it.

Maybe he has an underlying but undiagnosed health problem.

As a lifelong, diehard Buffalo Bills fan, it was devastating to watch and see the reactions of the players. sad I think we all new early on it was bad. The latest updates report it was a cardiac arrest possibly due to a hard hit to the chest. Sending prayers to Damar, his family, teammates and the city of Buffalo, my hometown. So much trauma in the past several months. I'm not sure if hard hits are actually happening more often or if the league's policies about addressing these incidents with urgency and more compassion have increased, exposing us to more incidents on the field. I don't know. But my thoughts are more on Damar's/the team's recovery. Thanks for posting this, abwilliams. Prayers up.

"Prayers up", amen to that Jan!!

I just read where he was administered a Covid booster on 12/26/22.

(I am attempting to verify, but cannot find the story now)

Getting this young man off of a ventilator and seeing to his full recovery is the top priority right now.
In the meantime...healthy, vibrant and young individuals, MUST discontinue this particular series of vaccines and boosters, until we know much, much more.

I am watching this story and pray he recovers fully. I recommend looking up commotio cordis, which clears things up a bit.
