Why do you understand under the term fashion?

I want to know your honest opinion, on what do you mean when you say fashion and how important it is for you? As we can notice quite often, that fashion can become quite a big part of our every day life. Is it the image of ourselves that we need to portray or something much more complex.

Fashion is wearing clothes that makes one looks attractive and stylish.  It is beyond wearing clothes because it is a necessity.  Fashion makes a profound statement as to who one is,  how one represents himself/herself, and the image h/she wants to present.   Fashion furthermore means class and chic.  Fashion is the knack of successfully coordinating outfits which colors and patterns match and do not create a discordant mess.  Fashion is creating a look which leaves an indelible mark and impression upon others.  Fashion, in essence, is one's unique signature.

The term fashion suggests anything aspect of life that is popular with a group of individuals during a given span of time. This may include garments, food, decor, design or even a habit or lifestyle.
However fashion is not about personal expression which can morph the things in trend to suit the persons desires and wishes. It is a group projection of what is desirable against what is not.

Fashion allows you to express yourself and your own personality. I think using accessories, makeup and clothing are ways for you to stand out and show people who you are.

Isn't this what fashion designers do when they create crazy outfits none of us would every dream of wearing.
