How To Easily Resize and Convert Images and Photos

Updated on July 13, 2012

Most of us, if not all, have come across this problem at least once;
You got an image, maybe a photo from your camera, which is too large to handle - for example it is too large to be sent by e-mail, too large to implement in your website, or simply inconvenient to use. Let's say you need to change your avatar in your favorite forum, but all images you want to use are too large and cannot be used due to size restrictions.

In all these circumstances, having an application which can resize your pictures can be really handy. And actually, it can be extremely handy when you need to apply the same settings onto loads and loads of images stored in your hard drive.

Free Image Converter window

Long ago I had tried to find some software which can resize my pictures in batch mode, but I wanted it to be small, free and lightweight. I could have chosen some image gallery softwares which offer other tools too, but I just needed the resizer. Just this simple work, without all shiny options.

I came across Free Image Converter around that time, and this tool simply rocks. It has all I ask from it, without making it hard to comprehend and it is free too.

This piece of software is so easy to use that anyone can get a feel of it at once. But just for the sake of it, I will describe the procedure.
User first selects the images he wants to convert, he can check either whole folders, or separate images from various parts of his hard drive. The program will show the files chosen at the right side and will show a thumbnail of the file that is chosen, too.
Next step is select the desirable size, the quality of the final image (low quality=lower filesize) and some batch renaming options.
If there are advanced options the user needs to adjust, he can do so by clicking advanced convert.

When all options are selected, all that needs to be done is for the button Convert to be clicked. The conversion is fast and the files will soon show up.
