   What word processor software do you use?
   
   I use MS Office 2010 but I am thinking to shift to another software which focuses more on writing and text and less on additional buttons which I do not even use.
   
   Additional features like Synonyms/Antonyms, Dictionary, Spelling AND Grammar Checker will be EXACTLY WHAT I AM IN NEED OF!
   Kindly share your experiences and softwares in use.

   I use open office.. Mainly because its free and im cheap.. lol.
   
   It is very simple to use and i prefer working on open office spreadsheets than excel.

   If you want something really basic, Byword is fantastic -- sleek and simple, as all things Apple are. I love it.
   
   For myself, it really depends on what I'm working on. I'm not a huge fan of Office anymore, as I find Apple offers far better options. If you need something fancy as a writer, Scrivener is quite impressive, or if you're making posters, ads or other documents that include graphics, Pages is unbelievable.
   
   If you're simply looking to write, however, and you want minimal distractions, nothing beats Byword.

   I use microsoft office 2007 at work, and I have to agree it's getting to be ridiculous, word was 10 times better back in 97 when it was a simple word processor, either way, Byword is a great option for Macs, that's what I use when I am at home.

   I use open office too! Mainly because its cheap. But frankly, my college computers have ms office installed on them, so I might go for the Ms office 2007.
   
   But give open office a try, its awesome!!

   I also use Open Office. It's absolutely free and it is pretty similar to Microsoft Word. Excellent choice if you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars of Microsoft Office.

   I am using Microsoft's Word 2010 because it came with my new computer and because that's what most employers want us to know.  I used to love WordPerfect because you had total control of what you were typing, and could even see in the background of the document (so you can see where the mistake was made). WordPerfect was easy to use, but it's kind of fading out of existence because of competition with Microsoft.
   
   I agree that Word has gone too far with the buttons. Power users use keyboard shortcuts a lot more because it gets the job done faster. Every time you have to lift you hands from the keyboard to use the mouse you waste time.
