   Do You Recycle Old Electronics?
   
   Yesterday at an office, I saw dozens of keyboards, mice, printers, cables and the like simply tossed into a dumpster. It made me feel ill to know they were going to a landfill instead of being recycled. In addition, nothing was wrong with these items. The office had just gotten new computer equipment. Do you recycle this type of item?

   Yes I try to recycle everything that is possible. It is so important! I am surprised that they threw them out!

   Some people take these to flea markets and sell them.  Keyboards, mice are universal for desktops. The cables, I am not sure about.  What a shame, when there may be entire systems being tossed out that could be donated to libraries, women's shelters, to schools, to community centers, etc.

   Yes! Our local transfer station takes electronic equipment, making it easy for us to dispose of old computers, VCRs, DVDs, etc. easily. For others interested in recycling, it would be worth it to see if your local recycling center takes electronics. Of course, other places, such as help centers for people in crisis, may also take old electronic equipment in order to either use it or use its parts.

      Sadly, we have these resources in place. The office in question just did not utilize them. It mads me physically ill to realize just how easily people waste and add to the problems our planet is experiencing.

   That was a terrible action on the part of that business.
   
   Waste Management is a National company who provides once per month pick ups of things we do not send to the Class 1 Landfills.
   
   About once every quarter, our city, county and State will partner, and have an electronics drive.
   
   Many companies offer a recycle refund to consumers who are purchasing new electronics.
   
   The cables are very expensive to replace, and have monetary value.

   I wish My son or I had seen this. We will go dumpster diving for them and he will rebuild and sell them. Then he send the rest to a recycling plant. I hate to see the waste.

      What is so sad Becky is that they were good with nothing wrong with them. The office just got new computer systems. I thought about taking them just to recycle but was with someone else and did not have my car.

      And there are so many that could put them to good use. I know there are kids that could use them for school or organizations that could use them. We love to get old ones and fix them, if they don't need to be fixed that is even better.

   There is an electronic recycling center in a city near me.  I gather a box of stuff for them every now and then.  Some items I give go Goodwill.  They can use the parts to put computers together for non-profit.

   There are charities that take some of these items. Call a local HP store or Radio Shack if they have a collection point. What they cannot recycle can often be donated.

      Alas Tamara, they are already in the dumpster. This happened at a medical office so I know those people have access to recycling. They just chose not to utilize them. It makes me mad and ill to see such waste and it adds to the burden for our planet.

    Yes i had recycled my old computer, laptop & mobile... Moreover i think that everyone should do a bit to recycle the old waste electronics...
