Is it true that the user habits are the biggest obstacles in making mobile phones eco-friendly?
No. The biggest obstacle is what cell phones actually are: a piece of MICRO-electronics. Very little inside the phone is actually recycleable. The case is plastic, that's sorta recycleable, and some phones on the market already use 70% recycled plastic. The problems are in the INISIDE. Batteries are sorta recycleable, but most don't bother. The LCDs and circuit boards are not really worth recycling, as the effort to reclaim that little bits of stuff outweighs the gains.
I think it is because of the mobile phone's component and of course the users also.
Many leave their phone charger plugged in to the socket when the phone isn't being charged. This kind of behaviour isn't just true of mobile phone usage, it also relates to items such as digital cameras, laptop chargers and some kinds of printers.
The fact that an appliance isn't being charged doesn't necesarily mean that the charger isn't consuming power.
