How costly is a Helicopter to own?
Buying a helicopter is dream which is dreamed by many. Everybody knows that owning a helicopter is very, very costly. I just wanted to know how costly it is.
Probably looking at a minimum of 200,000 US dollars to get a cheap, small, older used one. The blades are about 5-10K each for starters. Maintenance - I'm not sure but your looking at thousands of dollars of yearly upkeep costs if you're flying it. If you get a more useable larger turbine version, you're probably looking at half a mil to buy used. I think you better sell the Ferrari!
Probably hundreds of dollars per hour of flight depending somewhat on how many hours per year you fly it, and what type of helicopter you fly, (piston engine, turbine, size of aircraft, etcetera).
