Do you think that on-line communication has altered the English Language forever?

I'm thinking of stuff like Text-speak, memes and the like...

Absolutely!  LOL!  With our speedy online deliveries of messages, we have become so fast paced that we now shorten our words.  Lk 2 no u is 2 luv u!  How do you look those words up in a dictionary?  Also out of the industry we have created new meanings to words, like "tweeting"....used to be birds singing, but now it means our words are singing on the phone in scripted messages.  When we went from rotarty dial to push button phones, I never imaged the technology we have today and how it would change the way we spell and talk!  How many actually say, "Oh, my god!"....instead we say OMG!
