Well, out of the ones you listed, I only have a Facebook. Let's see:

    - Linkedin is more of a professional social network. It's for people wanting to show themselves to the professional world (to get jobs or get new networking contacts).

    - I've never used Google +. I've seen it once or twice, but it doesn't appeal to me.

    - Never heard of Orkut. Sounds a bit foreign though, so that's probably why.

I also have a Twitter account, but I basically only use it to advertise my article from this site.

I have two Facebook accounts. One of them is for personal use, and the other one I also use to advertise articles from this site. Of course, I haven't done that in ages. Perhaps I should...*runs off*

I like Twitter because it's pretty simple and basic to use. I've always liked services which you can describe as "type and hit enter" to new users. People can learn fancier stuff and details as they go along. If something is too complicated a lot of people will never get far enough to learn the finer points.

I loathe LinkedIn. They take everyone from your email account and pretend they are you asking everyone you have ever sent an email, to join you on LinkedIn. No matter what anyone says about LinkedIn, that is just smarmy and I call it phishing.

I'm tired of trying to explain Facebook to my Mother every time Facebook changes itself, again. I don't like the Facebook attitude to privacy. So I seldom use it, except to send notes to family who will use Facebook rather than just getting the hang of using email instead.

I do like Google+. When it was new I signed up for a look and was not impressed. But, this past year I've been looking at it again and I like it. It is a lot like Twitter but because it hasn't grown so bloated with promotional/ commercial posts, Google+ is quieter and nice to use for real communication and the odd link sharing.

I like Google+ Facebook  the most. I have profile on many social networking sites which keep the security of profiles protected.  Google is the best as it syndicates all your web data in Google dashboard . Interlink all your accounts and even HubPages profile to social networking sites so as to have complete control over your web content and photos or images. Security must be the main concern while opting for social net working sites. Twitter is for big celebrities or with stunning headlines.

I thought this was such a great question it deserved a Hub! I put a twist on the answer with my social media marketing passion: small businesses. My top picks, mentioned in the Hub, are Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and Google+ for sure!
