Do you think someoneʻs Facebook page should affect their chances for a job?
If it's in the public's view an employer can see it. That being said, I don't blame the employer for researching their hiring options. It is a big investment to hire a new employee. I can tell you, as a manager myself, I would never hire someone if I looked at their facebook and it was full of something like racist remarks for instance.
This is why it is important to ONLY post things that you want people to see.
Furthermore, there are privacy settings you can use to hide certain posts - or even your entire profile - from public view.
I think Facebook is a good way for an employer to gauge the character of a future employee.
