As you have been told you willbe paid if someone clicks on the googleads placed on your hubpages. To get clicks you have to bring a lot of traffic meaning many people visiting your posts having a more chance to get clicks.Choose the keywords for any topic. You may check it here http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/
Hope it helps a littlebit.
You do need huge volumes of traffic to make adword pay off.
Make your site relivant to a niche topic that many people are looking for answers for. Make it in a niche that hasn't already been saturated. Even make it a niche that people buy related products a lot and often. They would then be more likely willing to click on an ad and buy some product.
You could always try buying and selling webites <snipped promotional link, will ban if link again> instead. LOL
All of your affiliate IDs have been successfully associated with HubPages. As others have told you above, you only make money if people are clicking on your ads or buying products through your links. Consistently and regularly write high-quality, evergreen hubs, and you've got a better chance at making some revenue.
