I have never had good luck with version upgrades. You're probably better off starting with a fresh install on a new partition. Just move your personal data from the old partition to the new one, rather than going the upgrade route.
BTW, I haven't had any problems at all with Firefox in 10.04. I think that there is some kind of generic, unbranded version of Firefox in the repositories. You might want to see if you can get that one to work. Also, make sure that you have all of the repositories enabled. I think that the default is to disable the non-free repositories. You'll also need to re-add the repository for Medibuntu if you want to enable playing DVDs, downlosting MS Fonts and other "cool" stuff. You might even need it enabled to get Flash to work. Hope this helps!
P.S. 10.04 is the best version of Ubuntu I've ever seen. It really is slick!
Should work. Is the internet connection ok?
And what or why it's not working?
I found this post about release of Ubuntu 10.4 is interesting like to share with other hubbers also.

I tried to upload pictures for a new hub, but got a white box with an "X" instead of my pictures. I haven't had this problem before. Anyone else have problems on New Year's Day?

For the record, I am pro-Firefox."It doesn’t look good for Firefox: Almost every month for the last three years, Firefox has lost ground to Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Safari. For most of 2009 the trend was fairly straight as it fended off Chrome and nibbled away at IE, but between 2010 and...

For the last several days if I wish to share a good hub from a HP author with my followers, it won't do it for some reason. Is anyone else having this problem?
