There are no secrets. Just like everything else on the web (and even HubPages), simply create original and useful content that give people a reason to follow you.
If all you are doing is promoting affiliate links and products, rest assured the only followers you will find are bots that will never click any of your links or buy anything from your affiliates.
The greatest thing you can do for your visitors is give them what they need to know and little to nothing else.
Is it twitting or tweeting?
It's a serious question, I don't use twitter.
technically 'twittering" I would have thought
Tweeting comes from the word Tweet, which is what birds do, not from the word Twitter.
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/tweet
The symbol of Twitter is a bird, and in a sense, all Twitter users are these birds just chirping and tweeting away.
I'm sure there are secrets, but I just tweet and network (interests/topics) and retweet interesting tweets I find.
Gain a targeted following/unfollowing by using scrapers on related profiles. Low conversion rate is the norm on twitter, nobody goes on there to buy things, it is better fror brand awareness than anything else.
I just learned a new tip for gaining Twitter followers so I'll share it.
Most people place a link to their webiste, blog, or other online profiles on their Twitter profile thereby sending those that would click on that link to a faceless, non-social remedy for a particular problem and if they do click it's likely to be a one and done deal.
The way to convert these clicks into social contacts for your network is to create a Twitter Landing Page and place the link to that inside your Twitter profile along with about 25 words on the problem you will solve.
1. The landing page can be a static page on your blog or the About Me page.
2. Personalize the page specifically for Twitter Users and include a real picture (preferably the same picture you use on Twitter to establish trust, after all you are trying to establish a relationship)
3. Give a brief story (one paragraph) of who you are and what you do.
4. Introduce your blogs with links.
5. Use 2 paragraphs to explain how you use Twitter and the problems you normally Tweet about.
6. Create a call to follow you with the link.
7. Lastly, place links to follow you on your other social networks.
I got these tips from Daren Rowse of Problogger you can find his landing page here: http://www.problogger.net/about-darren- … roblogger/
Here is another secret. You know that you have to get your message across in 140 characters or less, so you need to say more with what you can. To do that you can use special characters that convey an image and add to your message. For more, check this out: http://thenextweb.com/2008/09/16/twitte … ersations/
I guess since I published a hub about my favorite Twitter secret, it's not a secret anymore, hehe! I have a method for promoting my content, building backlinks, and getting new Twitter followers, all automated and easy!

I have been posting my hubpages articles on twitter for the last three months on a daily basis. I calculate approximately 100 hundred times each of my last ten articles, but that doesn´t show up in my traffic sources page. What can be the problem? I have been posting all my articles at facebook,...

I have never Tweeted my articles and I feel as though that may be a problem. I know I can do better with views, but I just need to know where to post my links. I need to generate more organic backlinks and I am thinking that Twitter may be the place to go. Has it helped you with your views? Thanks!

Why do Hub-bers and Hub-bies not tweet each others posts more?It seems to me that a great way of spreading a great hub is by tweeting - and yet I see so little of it done. Why?

Gee , that's too bad ,....... That simply informs anyone with any brains that the mainstream media cannot stand being unable to filter in or out their own agenda to press room releases ? If the rest of the world has social media and uses it in an immature , uninformed and...

I had a hub that was the #3 spot and without knowing I tweeted it to much now it is on like page 7 listed under username/twitter. Will google crawl this back up. I never imagined that would happen. I have stopped tweeting more than one time now. Thanks for any input or help.

For anyone else looking for ways to get more exposure for hubs -- I was happy to notice on my Twitter @mentions one of my hub update tweets was retweeted by "Earth News," and even better,"The Horror Daily" featured one, with my bio pic, the first graph of the article and a link...
