I grew up on a farm in Sedgwick County Colorado. A farm that began as a homestead. In fact, most of the farms in the area began as homesteads. Most people could tell you who in their family had homesteaded the place, and where the original Soddy had... read more

The movie the Bagdad Cafe was shot at the local resturant, Bagdad Cafe and local motel which is now closed. The Incredible Hulk Movie was shot in the neighboring town of Yermo at the site which was formally the International Cafe! Route 66 goes right through our town. Horton Lakes which is a well known Ski School and resort is in our town. We are home to the Black Butte, a dormant Volcano, we have a lot of lava rock fields in our area, we are near Calico Ghost Town, which is a sister community.
April Beth Pitzer was last seen here and became missing 6/28/04, she was from Arkansas. Our community has joined in several searches a long with Desert Rescue, and other Authorities as well as her family.
If anyone reads this and has any information about her, call your local police department and give them the information they will pass it on to the correct department. Thank You.

I live in a small farming community northeast of Austin Texas called Hutto. Our town itself is not necessarilly famous unless you count the fact that we are one of the fastest growing communities in the nation. But our high school mascot is rather unusual-the hippo. We are the Hutto Hippos. We adopted the hippo according to legend because a circus train passing through some years back turned over and some of the animals got loose. Apparently most of them were easily rounded up save the hippo. She gave quite a chase and was eventually captured in a nearby creek bed. She was affectionately nicknamed Henrietta. The following year she was voted in to be the new school mascot.

We moved her just before my teenage daughters were about to enter high school. They complained about being labeled 'hippos' rather than panthers or hawks or some other 'cooler' mascot. When I explained that Hippos were in fact extremely fierce and responsible for more deaths than any other animal in Africa, they accepted that being a 'hippo' might be pretty cool after all.

Besides being the scene for the movie Jaws, many of James Bond's movies were filmed in my hometown. Alex Hailey lived there as did Sir Harry Oakes and his family, the Duke of Windsor and his wife, and many who have made Lyford Cay their home. As for bizarre, one church saw the handwriting on the wall!

My hometown of Garden City, Michigan was home to the first Little Caesar's Pizza store and the first K-mart store.
My adopted hometown of Ludington, Michigan is famous for fishing, its fantastic Ludington State Park, its Lake Michigan beaches and as the homeport to the last coal-fired, steam-powered passenger ferry operating on the Great Lakes.-

I grew up in a village called Derai, now in Bangladesh. But I had to leave that country for the fear of rioting by Muslim religious people over Hindus. Later I settled at Guwahati of Assam. It is beautiful by nature no other place of India is so beautiful only by nature.
