What is your greatest fear when traveling outside the U.S.A.?
The fear of the unknown - traveling outside the U.S.A. to different cultures and languages.
Robbery, muggings, unfamiliar surroundings. being different from the locals?
So many things cause anxiety when traveling.
What is your greatest fear?
After my last trip it was coming home to a nation I didn't recognize. The US had always been a safe haven. I knew I would be treated humanely. In the last 24 hours I learned my friends 6 year old, who has been battling cancer for 2 years, had surgery in the last three weeks and whose daddy just went back to Afghanistan was taken to the ER and they shipped him to a pysch hospital on a pysch hold. His mommy could only visit him one time a day. His mommy finally convinced the night nurse he was in pain which she couldn't get under control which is why they went to the ER in the 1st place. - I left for two weeks and the vitriol from the TV and radio is terrifying. I thought I was in the Holocaust museum reading about 1938 Germany. I can handle odd food, lost luggage, lost passports, robbery, but not having a home to return to is way beyond what I can handle. I thought it had happened to me September 2001 when I was in Ireland. Returning home this June was beyond words.
As difficult as this is for me to say....my greatest fears while travelling are heightened when travelling within the US. Travelling outside the US is far more relaxing and, to me, much safer. Outside the country common sense can go a long way. Inside the United States senseless violence seems to have found a haven and is quickly becoming the norm rather than the exception.
My most significant fear would be if someone insists that I play ice hockey on an Olympic-sized ice rink (i. e. "Soccer Field"). Now that I am older I enjoy the smaller ice surface most significantly...
That would tough in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
But fears are weird - sometimes they make no sense.
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers
You have pegged me Wilson! I have dollars for traveling but no sense...
Out of all the countries I have visited America is the scariest to visit & we have no desire to ever try live there . Knowing so many people own guns and even carry them makes you nervous being there . We enjoyed seeing places like the Grand Canyon ,San Francisco,Savanna , The Space center, Loved Alaska ,Canada . I would have loved to have seen more of the National Parks but they were closed while we were there . The travel on Amtrak is awesome !
There are so many countries that you can feel relaxed in & enjoy !
I read a lot about things that go on in America !
Freecamping-The number of places I feel safe is declining rapidly.

Just a reminder that these attacks from Israel that kill innocentshttp://www.upi.com/News_Photos/News/Fun … &or=tnAre partially the fault of the US - we've been funneling millions (billions?) of dollars to subsidize their defense. It's called blowback.

Why do people like to travel so much?I think people like to travel for the sense of adventure that comes with the experience. When traveling people can take pictures with digital cameras for their families to see. On many instances I have done just that and got shots from Indiana, Illinois,...
