Why do people like to travel so much?
I think people like to travel for the sense of adventure that comes with the experience. When traveling people can take pictures with digital cameras for their families to see. On many instances I have done just that and got shots from Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee. I think people like to travel for the entertainment it brings to their day. Casino's, Water Parks and many other historical points of interest can make an otherwise seemingly boring time driving come to a complete halt and completely change the mood and theme of the drive. Two or three nights stay is fun.
People travel for many reasons. For most, it's an enriching experience that allows them to see how other people live, taste their foods, listen to their music and observe their culture. Many enjoy just being out in nature. Some just like getting away from home for awhile in order to refresh themselves. Others go to get away from weather conditions where they live. Whatever their reasons, all take pleasure in traveling.
Oh, I like this question!
I have always loved to travel. Well, I am not thrilled about the travel part, at least not 12-hours-from-New-Jersey-to-New-Delhi type travel, but I love getting to know places I had only seen in books or movies, in trying new foods and learning new customs. I love meeting new people and learning how our cultures are alike and, even better, how they are different.
I love the light in people’s eyes when they learn that you have visited their country, and seeing the happiness when I use words and phrases that I picked up while I was there.
Mark Twain, as he usually did, said it perfectly: “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.”
People like to travel for a couple of main reasons.
Some, simply to get away - they may feel weighed down in the current situation/job/etc. and travelling is a way of recharging and feeling free. Away from the day-to-day stress and problems, many can relax. Of course, there are other, different stressors when travelling.
As you and Clive mentioned, many people want to experience something, be entertained, learn more about the world, expand their knowledge, they may crave adventure and new things! Because a photo doesn't convey the whole experience - what it sounded/smelled/tasted like - it can often encourage others to visit the same place.
I'd like to travel abroad to learn more about other cultures, for a change of scenery, and to take pictures that I can share with friends and family. There are some places in the world that I find myself drawn to even if I could only visit them once in my life.
Freedom, escapism, that's my reasons. I love, love to travel. I love to break the routine, meet new people, see new places.
Diane,
Traveling is fun because it takes you right out of your every day routine. It's fun and interesting.
Lisa
I like to travel because I see many interesting things, places and people. It widens my horizon. Seeing beautiful landscapes like cliffs, white sandy beaches, mountains, valleys, rivers, forest, waterfalls, etc are awesome. Then I can share the photos and videos I made to my friends and relatives as well as my co hubbers. Besides that, the feeling that I have seeing those awesome places is overwhelming.
Because we like to experience new cultures, different architecture and cuisines. Because is a time to be out of our daily routines, and we can relax and have a nice time.
Travelling has always been a passion for me.I have visited around 20 countries and I am still not tired travelling whenever I can.The differences in culture ,food ,people makes me excited to travel more. Yes , there is a life beyond THE UNITED STATES. I can say one thing,Living in the States is equivalent to being pampered compared to a lot of countries in the world.Unbelievable but true- toilet paper is considered a luxury in some countries. That alone is already an adventure by itself.LOL!
Travel is such a great adventure depending on where you are traveling to knowledge improves along the way and to see different places is a fantastic idea.
To answer the question I am going a little bit deeper and ask: why do some people like to travel and some do not?
The people who travel are the explorers. The people who have not ventured out of their small town (we all know some) are the settlers. Since humans have been living on this earth there has been the two kind of people- opposite in nature.
Some people like to travel more than others and I believe it is in their gene pool- the predisposition to travel and explore, the adventure the conquest. That is how humans populated the entire earth. If we didn't have that, we would all be living in Africa still and we wouldn't be going to populate Mars either!
Why do we travel? because there is a primeval force inside some of us that pushes us to do so.
I suppose there are many different reasons why people like to travel. Personally, I love travel because:
-I get to see new things
-I feel more freedom to go where ever I want
-I gain new knowledge and experiences as I learn about new places
-I enjoy meeting new people and learning about different cultures
Travelling gives a feeling of freedom, like there's always more to see and explore. It is liberating. It helps people get out of the small box of their lives and know more about our vast world and the wonderful people it contains.
The reason behind addiction for travel may vary from person to person....like for entrrtinment, refreshment, freedom
....
I love traveling for many reasons: change of scenery, landscapes, people, cultures, languages...The landscape, the scenery, I just love it, I can spend hours watching other people live in their space. It does have an effect on the person. It opens up the mind, let us see the many possibilities, we discover new things and ways we can input in our lives, it clears up the mind, it gives us inspiration. it gives us another perspective on our lives.
To me, every travel makes us another person, with a little something different in the mind, in the heart, in the spirit...
They are other experiences like that.
I think its to feel a sense of freedom, to explore the unknown an escape from reality. to let go and be free. Maybe a sense of restlessness,a need to keep moving to find solace.
People travel for the same reason they take up the spiritual life, Peace. Life itself is a search for happiness, whether we do this through gambling, drugs, family, love or travel ... The lists are endless but the goal is always inner peace of abiding joy, call it what you will.
Sometimes we know, sometimes we do not know and use other names.
Because travel have many benefit , such as can challenge yourself , enjoy a new experiences , can find yourself , can learn a new language , can experience new cultures , can see many new things , can eat defferent delicious food and so on .
The best thing about travelling is that you will get the chance to realize how broad the world is. You will meet people and learn about their culture too.

Because no one can stand their current living situation and they desperately want to find something better.
Answer to this question always varies from person to person.
For some, to tick off each wish on their bucket list , explore different cultures and cuisines and experience the "life is short" philosophy
For few others, its photographing this monumental world they are in.
and for the rest & the most of them like me , It is to escape from the job we do not like and always to look forward to the weekends to forget the not so likable weekdays.
Which ever reason it is , all of us enjoy when we travel .
Happy traveling guys for what ever reason you do !!
It's a way of releasing yourself from 'problems and stress', that you want to spend time away from. If you are a Business owner. Its a 'must' once in awhile thing to do. In some cases, people move around, because they just like 'new' places. For me its interesting and fun!
I'm not exactly an "expert" traveler, if there's such a thing, but I want to travel simply because it's a big world, and I was born in it. I want to learn so many things before I croak. I want to see and know for myself other cultures and say to myself, "We're so different. And yet we're so alike." Haha, drama much xp
I like to travel to meet people. Each town has its passion and specialties; and its people are always eager to share the history behind it.
Travelling is always an eye opener. Learning things from different culture is a good self enriching process.
Seeing different places is also fun.
But travelling always cost to much time and money
I travel because it makes me happy. I simply love to discover new places and try to enjoy the local specialties. This way I get to learn new things in life and gain a lot of knowledge.
Many times, you come across people or cities that you find strange. But that is what makes travel fun. I always carry my camera whenever I'm traveling because it helps me to get some great memories back home. I wonder why some people avoid clicking pictures or simply say that they forgot to click one. It is infact a great way to share your experiences with others.
I wish to travel the entire world in my lifetime.
I believe it's because of the freedom, the adventure's and also seeing the world thats why i travel anyway
I travel a lot mostly because of work. My husband and I work on international projects so this brings us to places and while there, we try to explore places close by during our breaks. We learn so much when we do this. Sometimes, it is just to rest. Or, to get away from the snow and cold. Whatever our reasons maybe in these trips, they are always learning moments.
Traveling is great. Give me a sense of freedom. I do not like to be in the same spot for too long, especially knowing there is so much to see. Meeting new people and seeing how different peole live is exciting.
Hearing about a place is nice, but seeing it for yourself is the best.
I like to travel because i want a change my daily stressed out life.I want something refreshing and which fills me with positive energy.I got more than that from travelling
I think people travel for fun and to get away from stressful work and lives.I haven't traveled far, but hope to. I'd like to get nice photos to post on Flickr.com and my pages. I think it's exciting, I rent travel videos a lot. I'm not sure what location is the most inviting. i love looking at peoples online wedding pictures on exotic islands, beautiful!
People just like to get away from reality and traveling physically to a new place helps the process of mentally getting to be in a better state of mind. It also allows you to explore new places!
Actually, my wife and I don't really like to travel much. We just love to visit our (grand)children, we like to visit places close to us, and we enjoy to be at home, where we have got everything we want: Garden, bed, fridge, kitchen, you name it. One-day traveling is fine for us. And if we want to have a look at places far away, we just do a left-click (or is it a right-click?) on hubpages.com. Because there we'll find many very interesting - even thrilling - reports written by people, who love to travel. And we love to read the experience and to see the pictures sitting in our comfortable chair with a glass of red wine, perhaps.
I think people love to travel because it brings new experiences
I travel for the experience. It is an experience that no matter what occurs in life, no one can take away from me. It is the thrill of getting to know new people, but also a good way to respect where you actually come from. I have had the travel "bug" since I was 18, since then I have made it my life's goal to learn as much as I can on an international level. My first reason to travel was to escape a horrific event that occurred in my life. Then I realized, travel didn't just save me, it guided me. It guided me, not in the sense of a guide book, but in the sense of becoming a person that I loved. I became comfortable in my own skin, and it has caused me to become an extrovert, because it puts me out of my comfort zone. Travel can make people nervous, or make them uncomfortable to face the unknown, but at the end of the day, that unknown saves us from the monotony of our everyday lives.
To be surprised. Fresh perspectives. To open my mind and explore. I like being on some kind of path without a clear agenda or purpose for long periods of time.
It feels great to just get out and explore something new. Even when I was a kid playing in the woods, I would always push on to another section of woods to uncover a place I've never seen before.
Also, trying new foods is amazing, immersing yourself in another culture, meeting new people, trying a new activity, and just seeing a place you've dreamed of are reasons people like to travel.
Novelty is a major modern reason. The ancestral desire to see what is over the hill to see if good resources or dangers are there is another.
People travel to new places because of various reasons. Primitive humans traveled in search of food and safe shelter. A businessman travels to meet clients and other business opportunities. A village guy travels to town is search of better job and life.

Well I can't say why others like to travel but I can tell you why I like to travel. Have you ever seen the movie The Truman Show? Played by Jim Carrey. That poor guy tried to get out of his town and didn't have any success but it was driving him crazy. Sometimes you just need a change of scenery. Also you want to visit family and friends. It can have a lot to do with everyday things being so stressful that you need to just get away to something different. For me I don't want to feel stuck in a certain place. I don't want to feel like I have no choice then to stay where I am. Also its ideas for if you ever want to move, you can find a place that you love. Other reasons would be to go to different weather, wedding or funerals, entertainment that is not around where one would live normally. Getting away from the ordinary.
It can be nice to see new places and see different things. It can be a learning experience. I’ve always enjoyed travelling, and just seeing new places and getting a bit of a change of scenery.
kerala the gods own country, best place to visit

People like travelling because through travelling they explore different experiences of life.some like adventure and thrill and some just want to get rid of daily life routine so that they can go and can feel the beauty of the nature in his world.Human can never be satisfied by doing same thing, living their life in a specific region they always want to explore new things ........ i think these are some of the reasons that why people like travelling.
it inspires me a lot and help me to broad outlook! I'm fond of travelling
Some sayings in certain cultures is that the Earth was made for walking and not for standing still, but I think traveling is something certain cultures like it more than others. I think generally in British culture travelling is somewhat more popular.
I love to travel because you learn about their culture and history, and along the way you will also meet new friends.
My wife and I are full-time RVers since 12/16 and we love it. Down sizing into a 30' Class A from a 3 bedroom/bath and a half was relatively painless once we put those things that make our lives wonderful into the RV.
We are usually Mid-Atlantic and Southern US, but have been to Arizona this past winter and this summer we will be north to St. Louis and maybe Niagara Falls. I try not to plan too far ahead, things happen in a house on wheels!
