Do we undertake a holiday trip for enjoyment or for visit of new places?
I think that it is probably a bit of both. A large part of the enjoyment is that one is experiencing a new place. Take for example visiting the city of Berlin. There are aspects of it's history that you might not enjoy and find rather sad, However, nowadays it is a thriving city with lot's to offer for enjoyment. The fact that it is a new environment to many holiday makers makes it especially enjoyable. Just the experience of having a new language around you can be enjoyable not least because it is stimulating to the senses. So overall - both! I hope this helps answer your question.
I have favourite places that I love to go to when I am able, because they mean something to me and I can be sure of a nice, relaxing and enjoyable time. I do look for new places that interest me that I put on my "wish list" of places I'd like to go to one day.
