I tried each of those, too. eBay is alright but I found the host to be a hassle. I got scammed on craigslist.

I like booking my trips on different sites. Instead of booking air tickets and hotels on the same site, I will shop around and book on different sites to save money. I also found it less expensive to book tickets late at night during times when everyone's sleeping. Here's a good site: http://tripsearch.webs.com
I have been booking trips from this site with my credit card for a few years now. I'ts been good so far. Everything has always gone quite smoothly. I've never had a problem with my bookings. Cheers.

Craiglist is good for buying and selling local stuff, but I think its better to go to a specialist website that is solely dedicated to vacation rentals if you are planning something for the family.

Holidayrentalsforme.com has a nice touch to it, although I guess there are many similar ones out there.

VRBO is the best for renting vacation homes, apartments, and some exclusive resort type, privately owned homes in all places in the world. I love using them for vacation homes in the Hamptons of N.Y.,Maine, Martha's Vineyard and the Caribbean.

Homeaway do their very best for owners and renters alike and thus protect the financial interests of both which is great peace of mind when booking on line. You can find out a great deal about the general area as well as the actual accommodation so you can rest assured that you'll be able to find the vacation rental that's best suited to your requirements.
