What was it like growing up in Kent in the 1960s
Midsrailer it would be great if you could share your experiences
Growing up in Kent in the 60's was an experience, one that will never be repeated in my lifetime! A population lived like a Family, a life behind Unlocked doors. All trusted one another within boundaries.
A concept that could, but sadly will not be followed in today's era. The joy of walking out of your door & being greeted by neighbours, that made you feel you had just woken up with in the same house was electric. The deep care & concern for every aspect of each others life, was a part of living in those years!
All though life was was moving forward, the governments of the time failed to grasp the ideas of local population & their concepts of policing their community. In fact they totally lost it, & spent taxpayers money crucifying the best policy of all........ A Man/Womans home is their Castle!
Kent today, has in my thinking, moved with the times, it has evolved as years have gone by. But it has been dragged under & drowned by forward Governments & the EU, & now has no personality. There is no Rural life or community, farms are factories, villages are miniture towns full of Townies & very few Straw Munchers as i was born & brought up to be!
But as always this is only my opinion.....based on the fact that i was born & brought up in the Garden of England.
