Why should we travel for leisure? Why can't we just stay home and rest?

I think travel allows us to appreciated our own culture and luxuries. It also helps us to learn about our world.

Agreed.  Additionally, I think getting away from home helps us to unwind and maybe put things in perspective.

Hi tillsontitan, I agree changing our surroundings takes us away from the stresses we live with everyday. Sometimes a holiday away from home is what we need, thank you for sharing.

Traveling to a tropical location when it was 20° at home really cheered me up, what a luxury! That was a special treat though, I usually to travel closer to home. Sometimes staying home and resting is just the thing I need.

I supposed it depends on what we need at the time. I love to travel but sometimes it was more stressful than staying at home. However I would never pass on a tropical vacation. What a treat that would be. Thank you for answering my question.

Traveling away from home often breaks the every day momentum and gives people a chance to refresh and get a new perspective on things.

If you stay home, you are tempted to do chores, etc...and that is not restful!

Yes you are so right. Staying home is not a change from the norm. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I agree that it gives us a new way to look at life when we see it outside of our comfort zone.

Most people travel to get away from their daily lives. Maybe they enjoy a warmer climate then where they are or they've always wanted see a certain place. Traveling for me is not just about leisure but more about the adventure/excitement  that comes with a change in scenery and culture. Staying home 52 weeks a year would bore me to death. Even if you do nothing at all but lay in the sun on a cruise ship that still beats being at home on the sofa to me. :-)

Hi dashingscorpio, I so agree. I love to travel. The world is out there why not explore it.
