Is the hubpages Question and Answer feature unique on the web?

I'm wondering if the hubpages Q and A section is not what it actually is!  I find myself a bit addicted.  I never even knew this feature existed and understand the stated purpose. However, I seem ADDICTED to looking for new questions posted and leaving lengthy answers. I think this is actually something MORE than what it is and might serve a unique purpose on the web.  My husband has said, "Well, it's just like a forum..." but it's not.  I HATE forums, but I like THIS!Is there any community of people of similar interest like this who ask ques of each other not related to the forum itself?

There is also yahoo answers and I find that addicting as well.  I am not sure which one has been around longer.  I have been using Y/A since 2006

Lois, Thanks for your reply.  Do you get the same feeling of belonging to t a group there?  Do you being to recognize the same people, like here?  I'd love to know.  Don't ask me why (LOL)?

Lois,  See?  That's what I mean about hubpages.  Plus if we don't recognize a name, we can go to the profile of that person.  I never saw why hubpages calls this a community, but I do through see that concept through the Questions and Answers.

The websites benefit from the number of clicks it receives whether it is for questions, hubs, or forums. You can also access statistics showing how many (views) of questions you have posted. Under your username is a drop down menu. Click on (my account) and then click on Q&A.
Usually at the bottom of the page is an AdChoices ad. These companies pay HP based upon exposure to these ads along with a higher fee if someone should click on the ad.
For those of us who enjoy sharing our opinions and reading those of others the Q&A is very addicting. Instead of reading a long hub and posting a comment you can read a short question and leave your thoughts. There are also numerous topics or subjects as well. Lastly some people really are asking for help or suggestions with issues they're facing. In other instances they may simply want to know (how) to accomplish or make something better. Q&A is my area of HP!

D, do you see this set up as unique on the web?  I'm wondering if this format could function independently because people r longing to connect with a group in this way.It provides an element of non-risk that one's real life group or FB group doesn't.

Like you even I enjoy Q-A section very much and I think it is a unique feature on the web.
HubPages is a community of wonderful writers and very friendly and helpful people. and the interaction in this section always enlightens you. You learn so much and even your writing skills improve.
There may be other Q-A sections elsewhere on the web but this one is different, because like minded people constitute the community and there is healthy and positive interaction. There is discussion but no rude remarks, at least I have not come across any.

C, That's exactly how I feel! I really do think this is a model that could be emulated and provide a connection for various groups of people with similar interests which doesn't exist in any other format. It's really a step beyond the forum concept.
