HP staff is limited by the sheer volume of bad comments and commenters. We are all going to have to do our part to clean up the comments around here. Help them to help us.
My point is not about that, Lela. I've always kept my own comment threads free from garbage & agree we ALL should. I'm saying when numerous reports go in about the same specific party w/ the same complaint, HP needs act, eliminate & clear it
I have read where too many writers claim they won't DELETE due to "support of free speech." They R "proud" of this but should not be here on our site due to the damage the garbage does overall. Yes, we have a right & responsibility to delete toxi
U know full well, at least ONE of many who R allowed to continue w/ insane ranting, insulting & repeated illogical quotes. Y don't OP's simply delete every single one? Bcuz THEY R part of the problem perhaps? HP should deal with this, Lela.
Yes, they have free speech, but we have editorial responsibility. They can write whatever they want to on their OWN hubs, questions, and forums. But the owner of the content needs to monitor that content for crap. We take out our own trash!
Lela..Again, I hope it is obvious to U that I AGREE w. U on this point. Do U agree that when writers do not delete the trash & writers have reported & complained numerous times that HP is responsible to take care of the matter? That's my poin
You know what would happen to you or I if we constantly beat on people w/ the same garbage in every thread, 50 times, over & over? It would be "ByeBye" Austin & fpherj48. How is this being allowed to go on? What's the secret?
I don't know their secret. I have complained about those people time and time again. I have not seen such unprofessionalism from staff regarding the problems we have seen with those people. U know who they are, staff knows too. I don't get it.
I only delete spam like the fortune tellers ads, I let the ranters dig thier own grave but I did not realize it lowered my rating. That's crazy. Why should other people's comments lower my hub?
Because trolls do not leave quality comments. They incite anger and usually go off topic which lowers the algorhythm for scoring a hub or a web site.

I think it depends on if one is writing here to earn some money, or if they are here as a hobby, or if they are here to find friends, or here to troll. It's a difficult decision for most of us. But HP has a point about editing comments.
I think you are on the right track. We need "beneficial" comments, not crap from trolls and argumentative people.
We do need the power to delete forum comments. They are some of the worst offenders for bad comments and trolls.
Bad comments do often stimulate more comments, but that can also mean a penalty from the search engines.
