I think this is to straight to ask about earning as I am new here also. I have written up to 5 hubs and writing more to reach number 10, I will write some more and apply for adsense if that works. Before I reach to that level, I would like to know from those who are really earning from it.

How is your earning and when did you applied to Google Adsense, how best is it?

I applied adsense first then i applied hub earning program but i must say adsense earn pennies while hub pages earn cents

Adsense earns  pennies.  But, you need to be approved for Google Adsense in order to earn from the Hub Pages Earnings programs.

So you mean I will have to prepare my hubs of Google Adsense so that I can apply for Hubpages own earning program. Adsense isn't profitable for hubers?

Murtaza, you can do well here (last month was my best ever, by far) but unless you get a native English speaker to help you and review the grammar of your hubs they are probably not going to be ranked well by the search engines. Unless they are ranked very high, you will not have good traffic and are not going to make much here.
How about writing your hubs in Word, printing them, and then having a TESL teacher edit them. (Sorry, I do not know what country you are in but here in Brasil most of our English teachers would not find all of the grammatical mistakes in a hub, which is why I recommend a native English speaker.)
As Linda points out, you need to get an Adsense account before you can sign up for the HP earnings program. In many countries it takes at least 20 hubs and 6 months before you can even get into the program, so you have to look at your articles here as a long term investment that are not going to make anything right away.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

That's nice to hear last month was your best month here ever - Congrats! Maybe you could share that with the Unfeatured crowd? Let them know its not all gloom and doom here. Some are going on about no earnings and no hope.... We are both experiencing upswings, and I think others are too.

Solaras, I read your post about your traffic last night, and am just amazed that you keep trying with those negative people over there. They already shot me down, and have been offensive to you, rude to Mark Ewbie, and nasty to FatFreddysCat. I do not think it is worth posting there anymore.

Indeed, I am not going over there anymore. It's a huge time drain and pointless to say anything that they don't want to hear.  If they were a sports team they would be called the Nattering Nabobs of Negativity, and they would stay in the locker room shouting about how unfair the refs were and how mean the fans are, and refuse to take the field to play.

Murtaza, you are going to find it extra challenging to get approved for an AdSense account, as your profile says you are in Pakistan, which Google is very reluctant to do business with.

You need to read the specific terms of application for your home country, as there are both content rules and a required period of account establishment.

I'm disappointed in the amount of negativity re traffic recently on the forum.  I've been here over 6 years and seen lots of changes.  However, in the last 6 months my earnings have almost doubled even though I haven't written any new hubs.

The passive income for me from Hubpages is amazing.  As others say, you have to be in it for the long term - there are no fast bucks to be made here.  However the Hubpages team are honest and hard working and if any site deserves to survive, it is this one.

On line writing isn't easy.  If you can't write good English or don't understand how to put together an article that meets the needs of searchers then you won't make money here.  Don't blame Hubpages -  success is down to you!

So why drag it over here to derail this thread too?

    1. Solaras profile image95
Solarasposted 9 years agoin reply to this

I don't think anybody was hoping to drag anything or anyone from over there to here.  My first comment suggesting that we share some good news with that thread, I have reconsidered, given the response I got to sharing some positive information.

This is a discussion about earnings.  Over there, some folks have made some pretty wild and inaccurate statements like, everyone's views are down, earnings are disappearing, HP is going to go under if there are not more Amazon affiliate ads etc...

I find that a small handful of transfers are doing the vast majority of complaining.  Some transfers occasionally pipe up and say their earnings and pageviews have increased since they transferred here, but they are ignored or ridiculed too. I hope those who are generally quiet will come here and share their experiences.

So some of us don't want to go over there with all of the SHOUTING!!!!! and DEMANDS????!!!! But we might like to share a final thought here, on this quiet oasis, to put it to bed.

I have chosen not to participate in that thread, but to add to the good news sentiments here.   I can say my views and earnings are only down slightly since the Panda update.  I took a hit initially, but things appear to be picking back up with some minor updates.  For what it's worth I make greater than payout level earnings every month and have consistently here.  If you create great hubs, with content that helps people that they are compelled to share - residual income can definitely be made here.  I use it to supplement my other writing jobs and sites/blogs.  I also don't focus solely on pleasing Google and get a lot of my traffic from social media.

I have had the same experience here as Christin. My earnings are down from last year, but for the little bit of writing I've accomplished in the last year, it is still good.

Barbara,  You are always helpful & respectful with your comments.  Likewise for Dr. Mark and certainly for our wonderful funny men, Mark Ewbie & Fat Freddy's Cat. That you are called out and snarled at with a pompous & unnecessary question is unacceptable.  The vast majority of hubbers can surely agree with this.  Realistically, there is always an arrogant condescending Quack in every crowd.  My opinion has always been, if this is what makes them proud of themselves.....who am I to tell them they are delusional?   (Let's go back to that very LONG thread not so long ago, discussing the individuals that so many feel are rude, crude & insulting.....naming no one, but everyone knowing WHO was being discussed......I wouldn't have touched that one with a 10 foot pole.)  Well, it's very evident that 2 of those people have redeemed themselves quite well.  The one I never expected to change, has proven me correct.
I made one fairly short, comment in the 27 page thread about the "unfeatured hubs."  I also joked briefly with Mark Ewbie simply to buffer the nastiness that was unfairly hurled at him.  That's was it and I left.
The simple reality is that I don't see where anyone can "derail" a forum thread that began completely off the rail in the first place.   The anger, disappointment and frustration is very understandable.  Any hard working writer would take great offense to what has occurred.  I, for one, hope that HP takes serious note of this and does whatever necessary to turn this problem around.
My curiosity is probably not much different than a lot of others.   How does a lengthy Forum thread of back & forth ranting, raving, arguing, insulting, bitterness and threats amongst fellow hubbers have the least possibility of producing any positive results....that are actually in the control of HP.....and/or google?
I'm sorry that those of you mentioned here were treated so badly.  People are justifiably angry and probably don't mean to snap & snarl as they did.......Have a nice week-end.......Paula
