with all the knowledge being gained by the newbies here on hp, spread out over such a long period of time, how about a hubpages convention?  conferences, workshops, etc. held in a condensed environment.   i suggest portland, oregon, in conjunction with the oregon brew fest, next june.

        you're so lucky!  it's a stunning state.

it's great that you're there, but looks like you'll be real busy finding us a locale, coordinating hp workshops so they don't interfere with the brew fest, etc, etc.  anything i can do to help, let me know!

It is beautiful here, it's a great city.  Wild horses couldn't drag me away.

Anyhoo, got lots of work to do for the convention...  Gotta contact some keynote speakers.

Sorry I'm on the other side of the country.  Portland is a great city though; I was there several times in the eighties.

Portland is on the wrong coast for me as well. But if I keep writing hubs and stuff keeps selling, maybe I'll be there! Love a chance to see portland and the hubster would enjoy the beer!

Well now, the hubster told me to get my hubber butt in gear and make some hubber dough and we'll go.

Although I think there's quite a few of us in New England. So there's no reason there cant be something around here. Montreal? It's one of my favorite cities. We'll pick you up in Connecticut lrohner.

I like the idea, I would love to go to Portland or NYC but Australia is a fair way to travel. Can we do it on skype. smile

Can you do a group thing on skype?  That would be cool to do one night - when we are bored and out of things to write.

My daughter's friends have been showing off their new dorm rooms via skype...hilarious!

Yes you can conference call with full video. I recently had a look at downtown in a major city in Poland. A friend was visiting there and stuck his camera out his hotel window! One drawback is that it uses a bit of bandwidth to send video, and not everyone may have enough ram or CPU speed to run with video either.
I would still love to see a conference though!

Oh man, the hubster and I have been dreaming of Australia. He was there and in New Guinea for work several years ago. But I've never been.

With your personality you would love it, and it would love you right back! Australia is the most open minded, energetic and inspirational countries I know of apart from the USA. smile I do hope you get to come.

The only people I have met from Australia were 300 bush pilots who were attending the Osh Kosh Fly-in in Osh Kosh Wisconsin. The flew in on a 737 and de planed singing Waltzing Matilda. Tens of Thousands of Women swooned in unison.

At the fly In pilots fly in from all over North America to the Osh Kosh airport. For two weeks in July it is the busiest airport tower in the world. FAA flight controllers volunteer to work it. It's all visual flight rules. And you sit about 100 feet from the flight line.
