Are people Emotionally disturbed so they turn to drugs
                         OR
do people do drugs and become Emotionally disturbed?

      It happens both the way...
They get addicted to drugs and they blame their situation,
Some go for it just for fun..
either way it is not a healthy way to lead a good life.

Yes, yes, yes and yes.  As with most things in life, it's seldom just one thing.

I think you hit the nail on the head, as did Pearldiver, although perhaps Pearldiver was more blunt.

In life there really isn't ever anything that is black and white...

Emotional and mental illness are not a "black and white"thing as you well know. The question of drug abuse is obviously a multi causal issue. The limited space in forum postings precludes a detailed question.I apologise for wasting your valuable time.

Thank you for having the decency of posting an opinion that indicates a balanced mind rather than using the anonymity of an icon to heartlessly gut a beginner...peace...

Ask Yourself this same set of questions; but substitute 'drug addiction' with 'posting stupid forum questions.' hmm

Reading your profile I would expect some sort of compassionate input.Instead you haven't even enough sensitivity to use words...

Not sure about that but I do believe some people have  addictive personalities.
