It's bizzare, this is almost a philosophy debating forum tongue

I don't know the answer to that, but I'm guessing there's a good chance there are a lot of people in the early twenties on here (plus or minus a few).  That's the age when people spend a lot of time pondering their own philosophical beliefs and place in the Universe.  Just a theory.

Hmm perhaps, although I have an inkling that a lot of the time the people asking have an answer, so what they're really doing is trying to TELL people what they think, the question just being a guise. Of course for active debate this is essentially good, but when it just turns into mindless arguing or preaching without taking heed of other people it's irritating.

but here's a couple of philosophical questions to ask:  When does expressing one's philosophical beliefs turn into "preaching", and when does debate turn pointless?

When you stop taking the other persons views into account. You don't have to agree, but you have to listen and take note.
