    Define the meaning of love

We tend to use the word so loosely. We love our cars, homes, jobs, etc.  Eliminate all of the materialistic things, what is love to you?

I think love is the capacity to see people in their best light, and treat them accordingly.  Love and light are very similar, I'd say.

It difficult ... but I will try ...

Love ... is the Realization ... that you like someone, or something ... differently ... that on seeing the someone or thing ... your heart misses a beat ... unknowingly ... that you are attracted to someone or something ... strangely ...

Reckon ... Love, is a "Sentiment" ... though quite different ... from the usual likings ... and dislikes in the Routine Life ...

Thats all I can say ... but suggest ... the best thing to do is Try, falling in Love ... to find out the difference ... between Love and other similar sentiments ... placed in puberty ... or ads.

It's when you want to take care of the person you love, it's when you want to give yourself completely to that person, it's happiness that you feel everytime you look at that beloved person, it's when you want to make that person smile.

Love matures in many ways, for many reasons. Most often, each partner has different qualities that come in handy to strengthen the personalities of both, as if one! Physical and mental passion for each other builds a union of devotion that mesmerizes each to a height beyond a known best. Quality relationships retain their union by trust, honor, and a respect for each other’s,  personal needs

Love to me is giving, sharing, nurturing my kid, my family with love is love. We cannot define love as it far beyond words you need to feel it. I see love in my eyes when i see my hubby, i feel love in my voice when i talk about my hubby, the very first time when my son called me MAA i was in tears of love, when i helped a stranger and when she said Thank you and God bless you i felt the love as i was happy that i'm a reason of somebody's smile. Love is in the air it just u need to feel it  and to feel it u need to find love in small small joy's of life so that you fall in love several times and you rise in love with pride and shine:)

In order to define love,  you need to first clarify what "type" of love. The Ancient Greeks knew four different types of love!  To clarify, here's an excerpt from Wikipedia:

Ancient Greek has the words philia, eros, agape, storge, and xenia.

Agape (????? agáp?) means love in modern-day Greek. The term s'agapo means I love you in Greek. The word agapo is the verb I love. It generally refers to a "pure," ideal type of love, rather than the physical attraction suggested by eros. However, there are some examples of agape used to mean the same as eros. It has also been translated as "love of the soul."

Eros (???? ér?s) (from the Greek deity Eros) is passionate love, with sensual desire and longing. The Greek word erota means in love. Plato refined his own definition. Although eros is initially felt for a person, with contemplation it becomes an appreciation of the beauty within that person, or even becomes appreciation of beauty itself. Eros helps the soul recall knowledge of beauty and contributes to an understanding of spiritual truth. Lovers and philosophers are all inspired to seek truth by eros. Some translations list it as "love of the body."

Philia (????? philía), a dispassionate virtuous love, was a concept addressed and developed by Aristotle.[citation needed] It includes loyalty to friends, family, and community, and requires virtue, equality, and familiarity. Philia is motivated by practical reasons; one or both of the parties benefit from the relationship. It can also mean "love of the mind."

Storge (?????? storg?) is natural affection, like that felt by parents for offspring.

Xenia (????? xenía), hospitality, was an extremely important practice in Ancient Greece. It was an almost ritualized friendship formed between a host and his guest, who could previously have been strangers. The host fed and provided quarters for the guest, who was expected to repay only with gratitude. The importance of this can be seen throughout Greek mythology—in particular, Homer's Iliad and Odyssey.

What is Love to me? Love is unconditional, no matter how good or how bad things are. Love is giving and taking of one another without question. Love is such a good feeling all the time, even in stressful times. Think of the love your pets give, even after you scold them for doing something wrong, they still love you no matter what.
That is unconditional Love. Your right, the word Love gets throne around way to much without really thinking about what it really means.

It's when you love that someone more then yourself. When you feel empty when they're away. When they are the only or last friend you want for the rest of your life

In my language, meaning of love is "true love" is love him like as he is. Don't change him according to your wishes or desire. Love is something like he is whether he is bad or good. This is true sense of love, which is rear.

Love to me is sacrifice. There are different levels/types of love, but ultimately each form involves sacrifice.
The love I have for my husband is deep. It's intimate, it's physical, it's forgiving, it's selfless. I strive to serve my husband. I put his needs first.
The love I have for my children is all-consuming. It's protective, it's unconditional, it's laborious. In the end I would sacrifice anything for them.
The love I have for a friend is uplifting and supportive. No matter what they are going through I am there for them. If they need a meal after a new baby, or death in the family I'll provide it. If they need me to watch their kids, they are welcome in my home. If they need to talk, I make time. All of these things are interruptions in my daily life, but I sacrifice for them because I love them.
Love does not come easy. Love is hard work. Love takes intentional effort. That is why I would define love as sacrifice. What a joy it is to have a love for someone that you would give up so much for them.
