What is love?  Define "love" in a few sentences.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I thought I'd do a quick poll to see how people define the essence of what "love" really is.  Thanks for your feedback!

Something deeper than the magic of kisses and hugs. Something that is still there many years after the "magic" isn't at the forefront. A deepness that is more than anything you've ever known, that sometimes can't even be explained.

Love is what love does. It's an action, not just a feeling.

Lady Summerset has it - love is caring more about another's welfare than your own, and then sacrificially doing what you can to insure their best course . . . love is not the opposite of hate, love is the opposite of selfishness.

Love is waking up everyday with your best friend. It's unconditional and comfortable. Love is knowing someone better than anybody else, and being so happy and blessed to know and spend time with them.

I think a  "MAN " who can provide me the following-

    The best emotional comfort
    The best physical comfort
    And...the best material comfort

would seriously make me love him!

I think we shouldn't generalize the definition of love.Everybody has their own perfect mates. It is just what you need the most..if you get in a person would actually be loved by you ...no matter whatever reasons you come out with!

In my estimation of love, and I tend to love very deeply, there is an indescribable physical feeling that permeates deep down in my chest.  It is radiant, warm and wonderful.  And when you love someone, even if you are angry or hurt by their actions or words, those feelings still remain.

Being able to express your mind to a person without having a bad feeling about being judged for it. Being able to carry the silliest conversation with someone and not being laughed at, but instead you laugh together. Being able to look into their eyes and see the real person inside and not wanting to change a thing about them. The mention of their name brings a smile to your face no matter how long you have been with that person. The word LOVE can't even describe it...

    Love is an action word...

I LOVE YOU. These simple yet powerful words serve as a form of affection towards another person. They have been uttered, heard and spoken by millions in many variations world wide. When it is all said and done, talk is cheap. It is easy to fix one’s month to say whatever but can you implement what has been expressed through action and sacrifice?

Let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and truth I John 3:18

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:13 I think that says it all. Love is unconditional friendship. Love has no boundaries.

Love is not an emotion, it is a compilation of feelings- of different loves - the love of/in passion the love of family the love of food the love of country. Just like when you askwhat is a bird-what bird do you use to say- thats a bird... Love is an emotion capable of being attributed to many situations.-3 sentances...

Love is the heart's domain. The heart doesn't think, it feels. Right or wrong, the heart chooses anything or anyone to love. Love defies logic and reasons...it is powerful and beyond control, it does not pre-qualify its chosen object or subject and the heart is willing to suffer the consequences of its actions or decisions in the case that it had made the wrong choices; but pompously celebrates when its choice is reciprocated and rewarded.

Love is the warm feeling of affection and care you feel towards someone or something.

There are 4 kinds of love

1, Agape is the highest form of love guided by principle. God and Jesus his son showed this kind of love towards mankind. it is a sacrificial and unconditional love.
    2. Philia is friendly love
    3. storge is your love for fleshly brother
    4. erros is romantic love

    5. Platonic is a friendly  love between opposite sex, they claim it that way but usually it falls to erros or erotic love

You can say I love you to anyone depending on what kind of love you feel.
I guess I defined them all
