Are you attracted to a particular time in History?
If so, when and why?
My first response is Regency England--you know, Jane Austen and all. The gentility of the era is what attracts me--also, the less-ornate fashions than Victorian or other eras are desirable. :-)
October 4004 BC
Or whenever Adam and Eve were created.
I would like to be transported in a time machine back to that time so that I could take pictures. And not just because Eve was naked.
There are a few time period that I really like. Victorian and 1900-1920's. I like the Victorian fashions and the span of time from the 1900's -1920's various and changing fashion and life at the turn of the century.
People who fail to learn from the mistakes of their forefathers, repeat the errors and live through the pain again. We should all be attracted to the time in History which resulted in World War 2, to avoid repeating the errors made then, because today, again, certain international groups are on the path taken by the Axis Powers in the 1930's.
World War 2 could have been nipped in the bud. But, the targets of the Axis Powers blinded themselves to what the Axis Powers were covertly doing, by both violent and non-violent means, to others -- and then became victims themselves.
"Beginning in 1931 China became the target of Japan’s Holy War and the US became included in the list of targets in December 1941 after ignoring the obvious since September 1931. The 9/11 attacks in the US – and Bali 2002, Madrid 2004, Beslan 2004, London 2005, Mumbai 2008... – how those who are the targets deal with their attackers will decide whether the American way remains the American way or is supplanted by something else. To survive – the USA cannot afford a blind spot here." -- http://numistamp.com/Why-these-WW2-pages-.php

I think my favorite time is from the start of the Great War until the end of the Second One. Defined the rest of the century and still defining the 21st.
The early 1900s in the United States. It was such a period of intense change and growth as we moved into the industrial age. I love touring homes from that time period.
I really like the Civil War era. There are a lot of interesting battles. There are a lot of interesting speeches.
I love history and when I look at my bookshelf, most of what I see are history books. There are THREE times I would like to visit. First, I'd like a sail in a longship, not necessarily on a raid, maybe on a settlement trip to Iceland. Second, I'd like to see If the founding fathers of America would speak to me, and see if they were real people or the kind of superheros they've become. Lastly, I'd visit the late 1800's America to rub shoulders with Custer, Sitting Bull, Wild Bill Hickok, and not so wild Bill Cody. Dang, I forgot about the Alamo characters, and Andrew Jackson, Tom Paine and Sam Adams, Grant and Lee, Red Cloud and Quanna Parker,,,,,,,, };>{>
Ancient Greece and the Mediterranean cultures ...... I don't know why, but I've loved those times since I was tiny. As a very small child I felt homesick for those days. I've no explanation for this strong feeling/emotion, but always felt like I was going home when I visited these places as an adult. England has never felt like my spiritual home - I didn't feel I belonged there. I'm just weird!
