   What movie has had the strongest emotional reaction from you?
   
   Lately, I've noticed just how powerfully movies can/have effected me, and inspired so many of my poems. Among the most powerful for me are Braveheart, Meet Joe Black, Pearl Harbor, The Patriot, and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
   
   I'm just curious as to some of yours, and why?

   Two movies that keep me crying almost every time are Beaches and Steel Magnolias.  One has to admit the sad scenes in those movies are all too realistic and I can't help but cry when someone is crying from their heart. 
   Because of the race issues, I try to stay away from period movies related to race such as slavery and the holocaust.  I'm one of those people who doesn't like to see others in pain so I can't watch a reproduction of something so truthfully painful without feeling hurt and anger.

   I can think of a lot. I'm a sap for emotional movies.

   I agree on 'Braveheart', 'Meet Joe Black' and I find 'The Patriot' is almost too harrowing, and 'Lord of the Rings':  and all those bloody little Hobbits drive me crazy.  I would lie to line them all up and slap them, and then line them all up and slap them again.
   My absolute favourite, though is. 'A Room With A View', but there are many, many more which I also love.
   'The Sixth Sense', 'Pay it Forward', 'Field of Dreams'... I could go on and on and on.

   i'm a fan of M. Night Shyamalan movies, particularly signs and unbreakable. i love signs because everything had a deeper meaning and happened for a reason. unbreakable is probably my favorite though because i love the concept of having an important purpose in life

   every time i watch Braveheart i tear up. i have watched this movie over 40 times. (we have a movie theater in our house-no television). but since we are talking "emotions", i laugh my rear off watching cheech and chong's "next movie", i have seen that close to 200 times now. the scene where he drinks from the jar in the car kills me.

    Glengarry Glen Ross, starring Jack Lemmon (his last movie) Al Pacino, Alec Baldwin, Alan Arkin, Ed Harris and Kevin Spacey. Directed and written by David Mamet. It rivals "Death of a Salesman."
    
    Times are tough in a Chicago real-estate office; the salesmen (Shelley Levene, Ricky Roma, Dave Moss, and George Aaronow) are given a strong incentive by Blake to succeed in a sales contest. The prizes? First prize is a Cadillac El Dorado, second prize is a set of steak knives, third prize is the sack! There is no room for losers in this dramatically masculine world; only "closers" will get the good sales leads.     Braveheart was incredible, no dout. But one of the films that inspired me the most was american history X. Incredible photography work on that film. also, shlindler's list and "life is beautiul", all on the same subject. Then "Memento" for example, wich messes with your mind. But loads of films have an impact on me emotionally. Impossible to state them all

    “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy, although 3 parts, to me it’s really one film, one story is the most memorable movie ever made. The storyline moves me. The characters touch me and the breathtaking sceneries bring middle earth literarily back to life. Unlike many others, I first fall in love with the movie and then become a big fan of J.R.R Tolkien’s novels.     American History X is at the top of my list. That movie stirs my emotions on countless levels. I also agree with the people who have mentioned Good Will Hunting. Another movie that got to me was Lost in Translation. It captures the beauty of friendship (and loneliness) in a way that I've rarely seen on film.

    Hotel Rwanda.  It's about the genocide in Rwanda in the early 90s.  It left me sad and crying,disgusted and hopeful...

    "The Gran Torino".  It gives a great view of the "American dream" and how hard it is for people to achieve it, especially for those who seek refuge in the United States.  Also, it shows that if you are willing, you can see all the good things in a person, regardless of your past experiences or first impressions.

    There are so many.  I am one of those that cry at commericials, etc. etc.    But I will go with the movies that came to mind when I read the question.  In no particular order.... Renassance Man with Danny Devito; Imitation of Life with Lana Turner and Louise Beavers; Cadillac Records with Adrien Brody and Beyonce Knowles among other very find actors....but the one that really stayed with me for a long, long time was The Color Purple.

    War Horse, probably. It was filled with emotion, sometimes almost made be cry from sadness, and other times from happiness.
    
    The other one is a music video called Eye of the Storm by Lovett.

    I cry every time I watch the fox and the hound. That movie makes me cry until the credits roll, and every time I end up sitting there wondering why I'm still crying even though the sad part was 45 minutes ago..

    Within the last few years, I'd say it would have to be "V for Vendetta"-- especially when all the masked protestors are advancing towards the police and the police stand down. In real life, I imagine there would have been a lot of dead masked people, but you never know; if anyone had written a novel about the Soviet Union disintegrating without wide-spread bloodshed or a nuclear war, it would have been panned as a fairy-tale and wishful thinking. In fact, it was miraculous.

    The one movie that impacted me the most was Titanic.  I had heard the music by Celine Dion a lot before even going to the movie, and for some crazy reason, when I was sitting in the theater with my daughter and her friend, and the movie began with the theme song, I already started bawling! My daughter and her friend just laughed at me, and I don't blame them!  It was just such beautiful music, and, of course, the movie was visually beautiful, historic,and, unfortunately, extremely tragic.  I cried even more at the end.

    Just last year my family and I went to the cinema to see red dog it was great we all cried. It is a true story based in australia about a mining town, I would recommend this movie highly. Another favourite  is old but good is steel magnolias about a group of friends that go through so much together all the ups and downs just like we do every day.

    Hands down, "Mr. Holland's Opus" starring Richard Dreyfuss.  Left the theater bawling my eyes out and didn't stop crying for at least an hour. 
    
    Next would be "Top Gun".  Have seen it over a dozen times and still laugh, cry, and cheer in all the same places. 
    
    "The Holiday" with Cameron Diaz, Judd Law, Jack Black and Kate Winslet.  The scenes between Winslet and Eli Wallach are pure Old Hollywood. 
    
    "Something's Got To Give" with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson.  I'm not a JN fan, but loved their chemistry in this one...and the ending. A movie that turned out exactly as it should.
    
    "Blind Side" with Sandra Bullock.  Laughed and cried all through that one, too. 
    
    And reaching deep into the sands of time, "The Electric Horseman"...another movie I can watch over and over and never tire of.  Always cheer when Redford turns the million-dollar horse loose, and laugh when Jane Fonda's character says "You did what!". ;D

    Lady Sings the Blues and ET had me crying my heart out.  I was inconsolable. 
    Midnight Express was so violent I walked out. 
    I never, never watch a movie with animals because I get unbearable upset because animals are my first priority.

    Easiest answer for me would be The Shawshank Redemption. There's not a time that I see the film that I don't get teary-eyed in the end. But there are lots of other films. I cry a lot :-D
