For those that I read the books before watching the film, Lord of the Rings and Dune. For "What dreams may come," I watched the film first.

Stephen King's books - some are good, some not but they are still Stephen King.  His writing just fascinates me.

One of my personal favorites is Field of Dreams starring Kevin Costner which was based on the book Shoeless Joe by W.P. Kinsella. Another current favorite is 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close' starring Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock and oscar-nominated Max Von Sydow, based on the book of the same name written by Jonathan Safran Foer.

The Janet Evanovich number crime novels are now entering the film market with her 1994 favorite "One For the Money." Critical opinions vary and the movie is a bit different from the book, but Stephanie Plum has found a fan base among viewing audience members. The film offers laughs as well as blood and three unexpected performances that steal the show. read more

My favorite book that was turned into a movie is The Road by Cormac McCarthy. The book is better, but the movie is pretty great in its own right.

The real star of this film is the focus on fears and mental health concerns that those who do not have them wish to avoid. A young man and an old man meet their fears against the backdrop of 9/11 and the additional grief it injects into their lives. Autism is the other star of the film. read more

To Kill a Mockingbird which I just recently saw via Netflix. Great movie although a little slow at beginning. I had never read the book. I would highly recommend this movie. 5 stars!
