Do you think it is crazy we have been enjoying the Internet for twenty years?

Personally, I have been using the internet since 1994.  My brother brought home his computer from college and I remember him showing me Yahoo, and telling me about its search capabilities.  I was amazed, and never looked back since.  Now the internet has become such a large part of our lives.  Do you think it is weird how long the internet has been in our lives and how much it has evolved.

It is amazing how far the internet has come over the last twenty years. I don't know what I would do without it since I use it for banking, paying bills, news, etc.  I think that the internet has improved a lot of people's live by allowing them to communicate via skype, FaceBook, and messenger.  Unfortunately, the internet can also consume a lot of time if you let it.

Quite a true statement. You only need to look around to see how just about everyone is hooked up to the net in one fashion or another. It's a wonderful invention in terms of education. I've managed to learn gold refining just from watch and reading stuff online. It's like having the london library in your home 24 hours of the day.

There is a downside in some aspects such as social interaction - REAL interaction with real people. We are slowly becoming more dependent on the internet to the point where I think we'd be lost without it.

I remember our first internet computer was connected to our shared dial-up landline phone.  I clearly remember picking up the phone to make a call, and hearing the distinct and unforgettable sounds of the modem online.  Damn!

I also remember the first animated .gif I saw, and the first video.  My world was completely rocked when I realized that some day, videos might actually be common.  And look at us today!  It's really amazing.

Not to mention how it's changed music.  Cassette tapes are dead, and digital is the way to go.  Though there are many benefits of this new technological age, I find myself missing the simplicity of just twenty years ago (sometimes.)

Yeah, I remember dial up. It was the worst if someone picked up the phone while you were on the internet. It also wasn't fun if you had to make a call. Looking back net was so primitive. I bet in another 20 years I'll be saying 2012 net was primitive
