Fish is one of the most favorite dish in the eastern India especially the West Bengal area. Not to mention it is also one of the favorite dish of my husband too and of those dishes which I do not enjoy cooking or eating much. However fish is considered a very healthy dish.

health benefits of fish

  • Fish is considered very beneficial for heart patients. It helps in reducing the risk of heart diseases.
  • Fishes like salmon , herring are rich in Omega 3 which are very beneficial in reducing cardiovascular risks, blood pressure and heart diseases.
  • DHA present in the fishes is beneficial for the brain development of fetus and infants.

Impressed??? I was. So here I was in my kitchen preparing for fish curry. Now whenyou make fish curry, it is better to fry the fish pieces first. In this way the dish become more delicious.

For frying

Ingredients

  • Fish 1 pound, cut in medium pieces. You can use any fish, I have cooked bass fish over here.
  • Oil for deep frying (optional), you can fry them in oven too.
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Pepper as per taste
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Red pepper powder 1 tsp (optional)
  • Salt as per taste
  • Red chilli paste optional) 1 spoon. My husband likes the fish to be cooked really hot !

These days you get the ready made powder for fish fry, in case you do not want to use the above ingredients, you can simply marinate the fish with the fish powder.

Mix all the ingredients together and keep it aside for 15 minutes at least.

Preparation

  • Heat oil in pan and wait or some time till it gets hot.
  • Carefully put the fish pieces in the pan and deep fry till the side gets brown. (this process usually takes 2- 3 minutes in medium flame).

Fish fry in oven

  • In case you want to fry the fish in oven, then preheat the oven to 350 degree for 10 - 15 minutes.
  • Spray some vegetable oil on the marinated fish pieces and on the baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10 minutes or until the fish is done. Do remember to turn the side once after 5 minutes.

In case you just wanted to eat fish fry then serve it with onions chopped in small pieces and garnish with coriander leaves. Sprinkle a little lemon juice. Serve hot.
