This a project with a slight variation of the usual puff stitch that I know. I have almost forgotten from where I have picked up this pattern. I was searching fanatically for a pattern and landed up with this though I do not remember the source now. I was planning to crochet a baby afghan / blanket with it but now the way it looks, I am tempted to make it a scarf for me. It is colorful, warm and quick to crochet. Though at times I feel really guilty for not making it a baby blanket but at the same time feel very tempted when I see the project. Though I must admit, as a beginner I find it quite similar with the granny square pattern. However the experts will disagree on my opinion.

Michael' s and Amazon have some great offers on yarn. http://michaels.com/ is offering lowest price of the season and the yarn is quite cheap and Amazon is my all time favorite. Given below are the instructions for the crochet project. You can make it a baby blanket / afghan or a scarf. I am still wondering whether I shall make it a scarf or continue crocheting till it is a size of a baby blanket. Any suggestions are quite welcome.

  • I have used crochet needle of 9 mm. ( Size N hook.)
  • The yarn used is worsted yarn.
  • I have used 2 stands of yarn so that the scarf / afghan would be warmer and quick to complete.
  • The yarns which I have used are the left over yarns from the project http://dipsmi.hubpages.com/hub/How-to-crochet-solid-granny-square-afghan-part-2. The green yarn is all used and now I have no green yarn :(
  • Only the light yellowish white yarn is new :)
  • Ch 80. ( the chains should be a multiple of 3 plus 2 chains )
  • Ch a single crochet in the third chain.
  • Ch 2 double crochet in the same chain (third chain where you did single crochet).
  • Read http://dipsmi.hubpages.com/hub/How-to-crochet-solid-granny-square-afghan in case you do not know how to do double crochet.
  • Skip 2 chains
  • Repeat the same step - single crochet followed by 2 double crochet.
  • Keep following the pattern till you reach till the end of the chains
  • Single crochet in the last chain.
  • Ch 2.
  • Turn the project.
  • You will find the gap made by single crochet, do a single crochet in the same space.
  • Do 2 double crochet in the same space.
  • Keep repeating the process, till you reach the end of the project.
  • Single crochet in the last chain.
  • Ch 2.
  • Turn the project.
  • Keep crocheting with this pattern till you reach the desired size of your project.
