Do you think men are better than women when it comes to cooking?

Men in my family not only love cooking, but they are also a good cook. When it comes to cooking meat, our men are better than the women.

In the context of where I live, men are more professional in cooking than women when it comes to large-scale cooking like at events (parties and ceremonies) and in the hotel industry specially. Although cooking by the women is a norm in my society, but their specialties are limited to only cooking for a family. I see all around me that men are more employed in the cooking department of the hotling industry too, which might be true in other countries too.

No. Some are, some aren't. I think it all depends on the person doing the cooking. If they love to cook, they'll take the time to prepare great tasting meals. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that almost any man will cook better than me because I hate cooking.

Doubt it has anything to do with gender rather than how much the person was exposed to the art of cooking while they were growing up.

I agree with Sheilamyers.....It all depends on who is doing the cooking. Im sure there are excellent cooks from both sexes.

One cannot be biased that Men are better or Women are. Lot of of people vouch that women are the better cooks but then the Best Chefs in the world are Men.
So it will be unfair to say that one is better than the other. And cooking results are subject to taste. I would say that women are well organised when it comes to cooking and most of them are good.  And if put to task then men cannot be left behind. Like I mentioned before that best chefs are men. But then women have hardly tried their hands at this as a career option.
So I would summarise that it is to early to judge on this. And the Best Cook are the ones who love to cook for others to eat.

Most families I know and grew up knowing; the women did the cooking. My dad cooked really good when he did cook but that was rare and although all my five brothers could cook that was rare too. The learned pretty young but mostly only cooked when hunting or camping with no women around.
I have watched some great male chefs on TV though so I am aware men do cook and are good cooks. lol My husband can cook 2 or 3 things but hey that comes in handy when he ever does have to cook.
    Good to see you Vinaya!

I think it depends on the individual's gift for creativity and expertise. I have six siblings (4 brothers, 2 sisters) and we are all great cooks. We are very creative when it comes to cooking and focus more on taste and presentation rather than traditional ways of cooking foods. For a simple example: gravies are often bland according to traditional recipes. We add unusual flavors to gravies to enhance the taste experience of a meal. A gravy can make or break a meal.

    Good question, Vinaya.
