If you have to choose just one, what condiment would it be?

Wikipedia says: "A condiment is an edible substance, such as sauce or seasoning, added to food to impart a particular flavor, enhance its flavor, or in some cultures, to complement the dish... Some condiments are used during cooking to add flavor or texture to the food...."

So i guess, chocolates and Guinness count ? tongue

Come to think of it, I haven't done relish in a long, long time. Thanks for starting this thread; I've herewith added relish for my next food trip.big_smile

Ketchup here. It's healthier to skip all the sugar and just eat tomatoes.

Ketchup! I use a low carb brand most of the time. Sometimes I use a calorie-free ketchup.

Hot sauce would come in a close second!

Calorie free ketchup- shoulda known! Thanks for that habee. Ketchup would be easy to give up as I really don't care for it too much anyway, but hot sauce...Never!

I'm not even sure if salt is a condiment, but salt is the only thing I "can't live without".  Pepper is a close second.  Most food is, for me, nothing more than a delivery system for salt and pepper.  smile

I can live without condiments, we hardly use condiments but I can't live without hot pepper (the real one, not the one in the bottle).

We use it as a part of our spice to cook, never considered it a condiment yet I love the dipping sauce it makes with hot pepper and scallion.

I guess that I would have to say that I couldn't live without mayonnaise.  That condiment is the single most amazing sandwich condiment that exists.

Everything must have the right amount of salt and black pepper. Third on my list is garlic. Fourth on my list is Basil.

Fresh garlic! I use it in nearly everything. Oh, does it qualify as a condiment? Oh, we use extra virgin olive oil in most everything, too. Yes, I couldn't live without my olive oil! smile

Dat'l Do-it Hot Sauce is a wonderful departure from vinegar based sauces. Dat'l Do-It is a tomato rich sauce that is not only mildly sweet but has some heat! Real clover honey combined with the flavorful Datil pepper makes for a great BBQ sauce. Dat'l Do-It Hot Sauce was created by Barnacle Bills restaurant to rule the seafood world. It is fantastic on shrimp, fish, oysters, crabs, lobster, clams or whatever. Try it!
