   * What do you think is in store for HubPages in 2008?

   Interesting question. My impression is that it's heading upwards. I'm noticing a groundswell of writers aiming for quality content first and 'monetising' second. This can only be a good thing. Also the quick buck brigade seem to come & go, while the writers stay around for the duration and build the community. So, it seems in pretty good shape to me.

   From what little I've gleamed so far, its on its way up. Or perhaps thats my enthusiasm!
   
   Not something I have an issue with, but I'm enjoying my stay mainly because of the "groundswell" of talent and quality of writers here. I hope it can grow and yet retain the same ratio of quality with regards to the "quick buck" crowd.

   There is no question that Hubpages is on its way up, with both authors and search engines.  Hubs are getting great results in the SERPS for some very competitive key phrases.
   
   To avoid a huge backlash from those search engines though Hubpages will have to a much better job of identifying and stopping spam for the increase to continue throughout the year.  There are very bright times ahead for this community if everyone will take an active role in making it better for everyone.

      I have to agree. I have taken to flagging spammers and ridiculing them in the forums. The sooner we get rid of them the better. I had never flagged anyone's hub until recently, but it's one of the tools we need to use to get rid of these guys.

      Very true but we can all help on that - when  I am procrastinating I have taken to going to the hubs page - clicking on latest and flagging the rubbish - it might be my time zone but I seem to be able to flag 6 or so before  I go to bed! I don't mean the hubs which aren't brilliant - or even maybe copied but the ones with no content , or content not related to the title and other stuff like that !

   Spammers don't care if you ridicule them.  They're laughing all the way to the bank.  It's just something we'll have to deal with as best we can.
   
   I definitely think HubPages will be big in 2008.  I love the format, and I think it will only improve as traffic increases.
