I have a hub about teen sexuality that google adsense has apparently rejected.
Is this normal? Have I crossed a line in breaching an important topic that I'm glad to see reaches many teens who need to read this type of thing?
While I wrote this and will continue to write about other teen sexuality issues, I don't think it's fair to be blocked when I see other sites with similar content using adsense.
Any ideas?
I would suggest looking at any words that might seem "porn-like" out of context and seeing if you can replace them.
Hi Sangay, long time no speak.
Google Adsense specifically prohibits "sexual advice" - it doesn't necessarily have to be pornographic or intended to arouse.
As others have explained, HubPages has a new filter which is designed to protect us from losing our Adsense account by unknowingly breaking the rules.
They've deliberately erred on the safe side, so some "innocent" Hubs have got caught in the net. Best thing to do is email HubPages with the details and they'll advise you.
HP has started using a new filter to automatically pick up certain words to protect their as well as our own adsense accounts.
if the ads are disabled on your hub it is likely because of the new filter. the best advice if you feel you have not violated the TOS for adsense or HP is to contact the staff and request a manual review of the hub in question,
Thanks! I don't think I have any explicit sexual content meant to arouse. It's basic information.
hehehe
Hey Marissa,
It's not a how to page, it's a how to deal with the emotional aftermath. I think condom is the most controversial word.
I guess I'll have to swallow getting adsense for the next one too because I've been asked to address the issue of teens and anal sex which is on the rise.
It would be stupid to try and use baby words, like bottom penetration. I'd rather the teens and parents get the info, money or not, but it sure is nice
The point we all have to remember is that when Adsense checks websites or Hubs for "sexual advice" they use robots, not human beings. And robots can't check context, they can only check for "rude words".
It's annoying but it's not going to change in a hurry! The solution is either to write the piece on another site which doesn't use Adsense, or disable the ads on the Hub (which HP can do).
The other point is - you may see Hubs or sites on similar topics using Adsense, but it's probably only because Google hasn't caught up with them yet. Ultimately they'll probably lose their Adsense account.

I have one art tutorial which was fine on Squidoo for 3+ years, but I'm wondering if it will be acceptable on HubPages because it features classical painting artistic nudity. It is a tutorial based around reproducing an old master painting, by Titian, talking about the grisaille technique. The...

I would love to have some guidelines about what constitutes 'adult content'. In two recent hubs I wrote about how to make love in the woods and in a car...with no "graphic" detail that I am aware of. I don't mean to write things that are offensive by any means. ...

This probably is one of the worse days of my life, after so much effort I have put online, here I stand with my Adsense account disabled due to invalid click activity. I don't have any clue why this happened! I have been here at Hubpages for more than 3 years and make more than 90% of my earning...

Can anybody explain to me why writing an article about paying off credit card debt is a violation of the TOS? I have been unable to find anything about this in the TOS or learning center, yet the warning appeared when I saved my article unpublished. I've written to the team to ask about...

ok ... so if we copy content from another site on to a hub, it won't get published .. fair enough and I agree. However, if someone copies our content, we get an alert but our hub won't get unpublished as it's not our fault. So what is to stop us copying our own hubs onto a blog of our own ???Jus'...
