Since, Internet is just in the starting age and hubpages is only 4 years old, I think internet will remain as main information source for next 300-400 years till the new technology (competitive) takes birth such as artificial intelligence etc.....
What will be the future of 'your hubs', 'your account / profile' and 'your reputation' up to that time period....
Simply share your thoughts on this issue.
If you look at history, no technology has ever been that predominant for that long a time period. What you have just speculated falls squarely in the realm of science fiction.
May be you're true but my speculation is just only an assumption based on the present development rate of WWW.
I just only want to know the thoughts of other people on future existence of this system, their accounts and their historical work.
I don't know about that. The Gutenberg printing press was developed in the 1400's. Here it is over 500 years later and Amazon still sells those antiquities called books.
Gunpowder came about over 1000 years ago. Probably very useful for my fireworks that I shot off about a week ago.
Although there are some technologies that quickly get replaced, others do not. Still, I wouldn't bet the farm on things not changing but would want to be adaptable.
I don't think that these hubpages will be here in 20 years. But 10-15 years will be fine with me.
It would be good for some of my hubs to still be earning in 10 years time, I would be happy with that.
I would not want them to remain after death, so perhaps I would give instruction for them to be removed if that was the case.
Since my hub are about beauty and life, I would expect they would be engaged on some level. As for my reputation.... I would not have a clue, because I am me and do not pretend to be something I know I am not, and that is incorporated in my writing.
So, I guess my reputation would be left in the hands whomever reads my hubs.
I hope that when I die in 2074 my account will be raised to the top of the hubpages stadium and my final hubscore of 98 will be permanently retired.
I hope this lasts an awful lot longer than just 10 -15 years. If this is to be my pension money - I might not be dead by then!
I wouldn't recommend relying on future hubpages income as your pension money, rather investing your hubpages money now to provide an income in 15 years. That is a damn long time, the web brings a lot of casualties. Although remember that you can retain your content and move it to whatever is making money then. Google AdSense is only 7 years old Izzy..... things move fast....
I'm too old and too poor to do anything about a pension now. I'm entitled to the basic state pension because I paid the full stamp for 32 years, but I'm not entitled to it for another 8 years.
If I had any spare money now I'd set up a website of my own and get a hand in ALL the revenue sharing programs out there, so that I'd be 'on the ball' when things change, as they usually do.
There is talk of google stopping revenue sharing, did you hear?
No I didn't hear that, do you have a source or link that you could provide? That is rather concerning actually, but I won't worry too much about it until it happens!
I have started the process of backing up all of my written content to an external hard drive, there will always be some sort of use for it.
I think that's one thing that makes hubpages so great. It allows you to make an imprint in the cyber world and gives you some change in your pocket. From what I noticed, the longer you are on hubpages, and the more you learn how to write high quality hubs, the more traffic you get. What I've noticed from observing what people say in the forums, the money gradually increases every month (so far that is my experience). Its great to see earnings just for publishing YOUR WORK. At least I love it. To think of the possibility that in a few years I could be earning a few hundred every few months IS GREAT!!
There is talk that aliens take cows and humans from fields and do odd anal examinations too.
One takes notice based on whose doing the talking.
Google's adsense/adwords program is a massive money maker for them - Its not going anywhere.
If anything they would perhaps stop "revenue sharing" through their dashboard and API - which shouldnt hurt us since HP uses an impression share.
Dont think thats to likely either though
Well, we can never know how long the internet will exist. Maybe a revolutionary technology will replace it in 20 years.
I´m sure no one would have guessed 50 years ago that you will be able to communicate easily with people from all over the world via video-phoning, etc.
But I think hubpages will last at least 25 years... hehe! I´m pritty sure!
Someone on here posted a link a few weeks back, and I read it, it said that google wanted to employ writers to write content (at low pay of course) because they wanted all the advertising revenue for themselves.
Guess part of that site has stuck in my head. Will look for it tomorrow, I don't know if its true or not.
Looking back in history, probably the two greatest inventions were the telephone and television. Both of them have lasted and I can see the internet continuing to change our lives.
Who'd have thought just a few short years ago that the home internet would be fast enough to download a full movie in minutes or to watch live streaming video?
Skype has already intergrated the video telephone with the internet and I can see in future Wimax (wide area wifi) being extended so that everyone will have access to the internet, not just those who can afford the monthly fees which are on the high side in a lot of countries at the moment.
I'm not sure in which direction the internet will move, but it is here to stay!
