Just be concious of what you eat and remember to burn off more calories than you take in. Basically excercise as often as possible while being smart about what you put into your body. I've got 3 kids and gained about 25-30lbs with each one, and have been able to maintain my weight at 117 (5'3) They're now 14, 7, and 3. I've never gone to the gym after having kids and have always believed that you don't NEED a gym to stay fit. I have a few free weights I keep by my mirror, and very randomly do a couple of sets of excercises along with basic squats, lunges, ab workouts, etc. I admit I don't do this every single day, but I fit it in as much as possible. The key I think to getting off the weight initially is to avoid sugar as much as possible. Drink nothing but water. Did you know that eliminating 100 calories from your diet everyday can add up to a 10-12 pound weight loss for a year? I still have my ice-cream about everynight and snacks throughout the day that probably aren't the healthiest sometimes, but remember moderation- eat that cake, just not 3 slices everyday! lol! Unless you make a commitment to yourself to eat healthy and excercise it'll always become an on and off again diet. Work hard to get it off, and then it's easier to just maintain a healthy weight everyday making it a part of your lifestyle. Most importantly remember that losing weight and getting fit is more of a mental battle than it is a physical one. "Where the mind goes, the man follows"...this is so true of all our thoughts. Just set a goal and stay focused on it; write it down, read it out loud everyday, and tell others so that you have to be accountable for reaching your goal. Good Luck!
Drinking the right amount of water. It not only helps breast feeding mothers to maintane their milk supply, it allows your body to run smoothly and get back to it's old self faster.
I've given birth 6 times. The fastest I ever returned to my original weight was when I drank the right amount of water.
