The Republican National Committee has invited conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart to participate in a private fundraiser August 12 with party chairman Michael Steele.
Tickets to the "donor retreat" in Beverly Hills start at $1,000 and go up to $60K for a couple.
The purpose of the event is to update donors on the RNC's plans for the mid-term elections.
The RNC declined to discuss the event.
Including (as I am sure was asked) how much Breitbart is being paid to be there.
...or perhaps the RNC will be announcing Mr.Breitbart as the beleaguered Mr. Steele's replacement?????
Doubtful. Breitbart lost a lot of respect from a lot of people by not apologizing for his mishandling of the Sherrod mater. Ah well, just more evidence that corruption is alive and well in both parties. It's also more evidence that successful candidates in the future will have to rely on a decentralized base for support, not the massive unworkable political party system we have in place today.
Ralph, long time, no see. Jumping a shark, I must remember that one. In all seriousness, I think we're seeing the beginnings of a dissolution of both political parties and I can't say I'm not sorry to see it.
Apologize? Mishandling?
Neither word applies to Mr. Breitbart's role in the Sherrod farce.
It is not directly his fault that Ms. Sherrod got fired.
Who could claim such a thing?
The chain of culpability on that only backs up as far as Mr. Vilsack and his knee-jerk reaction.
No sir, I'd say Mr. Breitbart got everything he wanted from the planted post -- and then some.
If I had to assign a score to each consequence, I think it would look like this:
1.Make the Obama administration look foolhardy 5,000 pts.
2.Make the NAACP look stupid 3,000 pts.
3."Prove" that racism exists within the NAACP 1,000 pts.
4.Get a "racist" fired from USDA 1,000 pts.
5.Turn said racist into a media darling -1,000 pts
6.Cause your Fox News cronies some discomfort -500 pts
7.Put yourself in the media (and RNC) spotlight 10,000 pts
Good analysis! The word, "apology" isn't in Breitbart's vocublary. He's a purveyor of lies and misinformation. He posted a misleading edited tape on his website that resulted in the unfair dismissal of Ms. Sherrod even though that wasn't his main purpose in posting the tape. Nevertheless, Breitbart's posting of the tape led to Ms. Sherrod's dismissal. Others, primarily Vilsak, are also to blame. I haven't seen any proof that anyone in the White House pulled the trigger on Ms. Sherrod; however that wouldn't surprise me.
He did mishandle the issue. The real story behind the Sherrod farce is that you had a woman who put race first, at least in the beginning; but came to realize that she was wrong. That's a powerful testament to the general goodness of humanity that has been lost in the firestorm of political nonsense.
As for your list, the Obama administration has made itself incompetent by going back on the transparency promise they made to the American people.
The NAACP is a dinosaur that needs to die. For all intent and purposes there is little institutional racism for them to battle anymore. Any reaching on their part now is just to make them "more equal" than others to borrow an idea from Animal Farm. The NAACP proved they were full of racists when they tried to condemn the Tea Party as a racist organization. They had somewhat of an attack of common sense at the last second and called on them to expel "racists" from their ranks. Not that it made much difference in the end, they still sound racist.
I find it amusing that of all the "right wing haters" out there Beck didn't touch the story and that's why Sherrod was fired in the first place. I do give props to Bill O'Reilly for apologizing on air for getting the story wrong. Say what you want about him, he at least has integrity, which is more than you can say about most of the media or politicos out there.

Obama's attacks on BP are increasingly being viewed in the UK as signs of his anti-British stance. Or is he just trying to pull attention away from his own administration's failures?http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article … itain.html
