Well thanks to all of you who prayed for me. It was encouraging.

Unfortunately the atheists may win this one. We'll see. I wrote a hub on changing your luck, and wouldn't you know not 24 hours after I wrote it I had two job leads and a compliment from a supervisor at my current job. The article is about changing your luck via attitude adjustment.

It occurs to me that this happens during prayer too. The attitude is adjusted, one begins to think more positively. And social networking is provided by the venue if one belongs to a religious sect.

I have my reasons for believing in the existence of god, and they don't have to do with miracles. I have a harder time with luck as I have quite a religious pre-occupation with it. You might say that trying to get good luck is a religion for me.

I will keep you updated if you are interested,

Hi Shashigai, glad to know you are feeling better big_smile and that you fortune is changing!

a positive attitude is the big changer as far as I understand.

I don't believe in luck, it being a product of chance. I believe in good fortune, as a product of the "divine order" of the Universe. I believe there is order to the universe, we just don't always understand it because it affects us in such personal ways, when really it is a very impersonal process of "how it all works" smile

Definiteness of purpose, clarity and vision, optimism and persistence are the main ingredients to "luck."  Like SJ said, people create their own luck by being in harmony with the universe and understanding its mechanisms.

      Hey Nick,

I skimmed your webpage on the Napolean Hill stuff. I have been studying his teachings through Helen Collier (who was married to Robert Collier, obviously not the original one!...never asked if they were related, though) for years. I taught some of the Principles to my youngest son, but have tried to "BE" more of them myself.

We are all BECOMING more in harmony in our own way--some like to take the scenic route.

a test of my "faith" today - found out my finances were even more totaled than i knew. i was hurt but not as devastated as i might have been before. i have an interview for an online job - of two places i made it to the next step at one place.
because i am trying the principles in my change your luck thread i decided that it wouldn't help to try to use lucky charms - that has been my downfall in the past. that will translate into less disappointment in the future.
so, what would have been  the last straw happened while i was at work - my trunk lock froze, and as i am partly living out of my car, this is a bad thing. lol, instead of dwelling on that i IMed my friend saying at least it froze locked. guess what? it opened when i got to my destination for tonight. sigh. all those years of superstition, and a change of attitude works in a couple of days.
still working on it, just thought i would let you know it worked.

i'm not sure it's luck, but my score is up to 90 for the first time since it got there in my first few days on hubpages. It got to 93 the day i posted my first article and then kept dropping. Now its back up and i am optimistic. i am also a little more optimistic about my life - there are problems, but i am solving them, and , with a little luck, the whole thing will turn around soon.

but now i am wondering if i left anything out - the hub was quite a selfish one, designed to help me more than anyone else. this is the link: http://hubpages.com/hub/Change-Your-Luck. if you have any reasonable suggestions to add that don't involve outright prayer, i would like to hear them. it is a grand experiment to change an attitude i've held all my life and any help is greatly appreciated!

You need to remove that full stop from the end of your url for the link to work. Like this:

      http://hubpages.com/hub/Change-Your-Luck

Glad to hear your attitude adjustment is working smile

        ah, DOH!
thanks - it really is working - (frozen) stalled car started, AND i got nominated for a hubnugget.

prayer is losing out fast - however i suppose it does work if it causes an attitude adjustment in the person who is praying. but that just means its an attitude adjustment (ducks from being struck by lightning) and not answered prayer...

    OMG! It worked again!
I answered the phone and it was an online school that I had clicked by accident - i can't afford the training but I talked to a woman who suggested I teach, and she transferred me to someone who connected me with someone who connected me with a recruiter!

dang. it really is working. there is an aspect of this that is reinforcement, that is the more my luck changes, the more i believe in it. i have been resistant to this in the past, but i think its working!

    wow. dang and other expletives.

    wow.
