Hi All,
It's been a few weeks now since I have posted on the forums; mainly due to life's challenges. I have started getting serious withdrawl symptoms but can't find the inspiration to get involved.
I have had a couple of issues going on particually ill health; my wife has been having a particually bad time with rheumatoid arthritis and I have a very painful case of pleurasy; poor excuses I know.
The initial excitement of being a new hubber and blogger has been waning and I have been beating myself up for letting my activity slip.
Has anyone else ever felt like this and if so what did you do?
I have created this post in order to get my fingers writing again (so please don't feel obliged to reply) as I know this will help, I am just waiting for my brain to catch up.
Isn't it funny; just writing a few words like this is starting to make me feel that all is not lost, the only question now in my ramblings is should I publish this post or delete it and write a hub instead?
What the heck; I am pressing the submit button!
I think everyone goes through those times, especially when it comes to something like writing in your spare time. If you don't feel well you don't really feel like writing. If you're living with someone struggling with RA (my mother had that) there can just be challenges that can make you feel like the last thing you're in the mood to do is write.
My approach on here (or other sites) when it comes to spare-time writing has always been that I write if I feel like it, don't if I don't. The same with the forums. There are people who sign up here, write a few things, and then don't do any more for months. It's all fine. That's what good about an a site like this. Momentum comes and goes for most of us, I think.
Thanks Lisa
I am one of those people who hate getting behind, I set myself goals and it frustrates me when I don't acheive them. Your right though the beauty of hubpages is it will still be here when I find the motivation to write.
Thanks Again
My idea of sitting back is writing hubs on topics I like.
When I'm actually in work mode, I write for the money.
This week I'm in a bad mood so only on topics I like to make me feel less guilty about gaming... or I write complaint hubs as I did yesterday.
Can't help it - writing is good when I'm happy, sad or mad.
I say... write what you feel and the rest will work itself out.
Great advice WryLilt
I am tempted to write a hub about how I feel but it would probably turn into a rant and never pass advertising protocols .
I love the way you describe the difference between writing hubs on topics you like and work mode, this is a great approach.
I just need to get rid of this nasty pain in my rib cage and start writing again; I am sure I will just slip back into it then.
Thanks again
I have been posting on the web since 1991. If you average it out, it comes to just about one article a day, but in fact it is much more sporadic. Sometimes I go a month and barely do anything; sometimes I churn out multiple pages per day.
There is nothing wrong with taking a break to recharge your batteries.
Nor are your excuses poor. My wife has health problems; sometimes I just need to be with her. You need not apologise for anything.
Thanks Pcunix
Your comments are much appreciated, I am probably being a little hard on myself. I have only been on here 4 months and you are absolutely right this is a long term process.
I guess I am just sick of being sick; if that makes sense and I feel a bit guilty for not being able to do as much for the wife as I am normally able to do.
Anyway I am sure it will pass and I really do appreciate your comment and wise words.

I am still new to Hubpages and have been enjoying a rather successful start. Thank you to those who have voted my articles up and those few of you who have begun to follow me. But I have noticed one thing of late and maybe it is the way it goes but I think it is disrespectful. I have commented on a...

I'd love to know your answer to this question. And I'm not speaking of answers such as, "Finding more time to write." Let me help you out by listing a few of my own challenges. You can select one of these or add your own. Thanks for sharing. - A. Finding a...

How do you feel when you write a comment and don't receive a response from the author?
by BennyTheWriter 13 years ago
Hey everyone,This might seem like a silly question, the answer to which is probably glaringly obvious to my more experienced fellow hubbers, but I'm truly at a loss here. I'd like to know how you come up with original hubs to write after doing research on a proposed topic. Nearly every...

HubPages is full of great poets. I feel some of them must have noticed how listening to good music inspires the Muse. Something to talk about

Was curious after seeing most of the long term - experienced Hubbers. So thought of doing some research. Topic explains it. Let's try to be truthful here. What really keeps you going on here on HP? Why should Hubpages be the First choice for any Writer? Please try to support your idea with...
