Everyone has their favourite footballer and everyone's is different for personal reasons depending on which team you support.
For me i have too many favourite's so here's my top 5 !!

    5. Zinedine Zidane
elegant and relaxed Zidane made football look easy like no other player.

    4. Lionel Messi
Probably the best to watch in the world right now besides Cristiano Ronaldo Messi has it all, he's also an amazing example of a true professional , ever heard Messi partying or sleeping around true pro.

    3. Fat Ronaldo
Watch his Barcelona season 95-96 enough said !!

    2. Ronaldinho
So good to watch can't believe he's been forgotten since Cristiano and Messi have come along, when Barcelona won the Champions League in 2006 he had a massive part to play and i don't think there's been a better player in terms of invention on the pitch check this out.

    1. Eric Cantona
Purely for personal reasons the ultimate player of the Premier League in the 90's showed Man United how to play football, if it wasn't for him i don't think United would be quite the force they are now , shame he retired at 29 but he prevented the great decline in his 30's, all we remember of Cantona is magic and genius.

Only know American Football but like British better.  No armor to fall back on. What's up with the push huddle?  Why do they do that?

    1) Pele

    2) Maradona

    3) Zidane

    4) Roberto Baggio

    5) Christiano Ronaldo/David Villa - projected

Messi is overrated... he can't score when it matters i.e. World Cup.

couturepopcafe think you might be on about Rugby lol . Not completely sure that's what you meant but were talking about soccer.

Roti you could say the same about Cristiano Ronaldo.

No one can say Messi is overrated he's too good but i agree he had a poor world cup but so did a lot of stars  i.e. Rooney, Ribery, Kaka, Ronaldo.
I think it was the ball , pretty much ruined a world cup lol

That ball was crazy... but I think Messi, more than anyone, just couldn't handle the pressure of being the star coming into the world cup. That's what separates him from guys like Maradona who did their best when all eyes were on them, that's what makes a "great." That's why I really liked what David Villa did... clutch.

yer i gotta agree David Villa was amazing in the world cup no doubt about it one of the best strikers in the world.
I think Messi will have his day he's too good , but it's crucial to remember you have to have a good team around you these days, David Villa had world class players all around him , whilst Messi had Jonas Guiterrez lol

Good point... the Spanish team overall was probably better... though I thought Argentina had some nice players too. I think Messi will do better next world cup, he's still very young... but will he become a world cup legend? Maradona loves him, so perhaps he will.
