HP definitely has some educated engineers and business savvy people running the site. Have you read Paul's Edmondson's interview with Techcrunch in the Nov. blog entries?

Drupal and Wordpress can both be hacked to create decent article directories. It would take a lot of work to make something as nice as HubPages though.

Wordpress can easily converted in to an article directory, polishing off either wordpress or drupal takes a whole lot of work though.  I built the article directory This is Freelance and I ca safely say to get everything perfect is a neverending task.

HubPages is a custom software platform. You can create any website you want if you have one or more programmers who can handle the technology. You will also need servers and you will need to learn how to create large scale websites. A small website is easy but a website with a lot of content and traffic is a whole different story. Approaches that work for a small site don't work so well on a big site technically speaking.

Yeah.. I have read aboth the team.. they are only a few yet highly qualified most having Phds from world class institute. Well if its possible to tune wordpress and drupal. How do we incorporate the trackers and adsense affiliation program into them?

And thanks a lot for the techcrunh link rebekah!!!

Affiliate trackers and Adsense sharing are both pretty easy to implement to be honest, where it gets tricky is when you try to combine the two, I still haven't managed to get that working 100% sad

Let me guess how it might operate, new oracle and such database support scripts in C,C++ etc (we can manipulate the database using scripts). There must be a user object for which Adsense id is an attribute. This adsense id is dynamic when a tracker is spotted it or when the hubpage needs their share they change the adsense pub-id as necessary for specifict time period and change it back to the users defauld when its his turn.
