            False, as all political parties have been moving to the right over time the democrats would have been further to the left and thus Mark Twain's analysis of the Republican party would still have applied to the republican party.

               Abraham Lincoln - and thus the scorn of the South - was a Republican...
               
               ... and things have changed.
               
               Lincoln stood for government spending, federal bailouts, federal consolidation of power, and above all more taxes.
               
               Today much of the same claims apply to the Democrat Party (although, the Republican is guilty as well).

                  Habee, you and I both know history. Lincoln was a Republican. So was Teddy Roosevelt, a clear progressive. The Democratic party was steeped in racism until progressive democrats embraced the Civil Rights movement. The 'Southern Strategy' propelled Reagan to power by converting unhappy racists to the GOP. Neither party is staticic in philosophy - neither is pure.

      The 'two parties" quote was actually comedian Bob Hope.
      
      The "Quran" quote was skateboarder Jacob Isom, who prevented the burning of a copy of the text when he snatched the book out of the book burner's hands.
