Google has put an ad on one of my hubs that I'm sure will not get any clicks. The hub is about milk free recipes and the ad contains a youtube video about some cheese recipe. Obviously the hub is about foods that do not have cheese, those reading it will not be interested in cheese. I have rearranged things and changed words but it is still there. Any suggestions?
You'd have to get rid of the word "cheese" altogether to get rid of that ad. Google makes the best matches it can based on words it finds, even to the point of advertising things that contradict the actual content. Remember this is an automated computer program at work...
This is where you'll have to make some entries in your Competitive Ad Filter to try and block it.
The word "cheese" isn't in there anywhere. I'm willing to bet it's the word "recipe" that may be drawing the ad.
I'm not sure what the Competitive ad filter is, where do I find it?
Thanks for your help. I have looked in the forums and tried other peoples tips but they haven't worked so far. I think this really makes my hub look like a joke and it's been really bugging me.
On the adsense site, go to "adsense ad setup" and "competitive ad filter".
You're right, too. The ad does look funny on your hub and detracts from it.
Sorry, I just looked at the Hub. It's "milk." That could draw ANY sort of ads that promote dairy products.
And don't forget, during those times when the HubPages AdSense ID is affiliated with your Hubs, none of your filter preferences will be in effect and you still might see ads that you'd otherwise prefer not to have.
Sorry, found it. Now trying to figure it out. Thanks again for suggesting it.
Thanks so much everyone, it worked! The ad was replaced by lactose free item ads.
Yay!

What determines how much you get per click in Adsense? Is it the topic, or some weird witchy-brew no-one really understands?I ask because 2 things have confused me, looking just now at my account, for the first time in a while.my Easter Eggs hub has been getting lots of traffic and a few clicks...

Okay, I just signed up like two seconds ago, and I am seriously confused. I can figure it all out (I think for the most part) on my own, once I get reading into everything, but I have one major question that I can't seem to find an answer to anywhere.Do I have to have a google adsense account to...

I'm so confused about how to earn money. Do I have to be an affiliate with Google, Amazon, AND Ebay? Do I have to have an account with Google Adsense? I tried to become an affiliate with Amazon and when I went to the website, I saw three different options to select and I had no idea what to click...

Who do you have on your Competitive Ad Filter (you have to be logged into Adsense to be taken directly to that page) and (if you're feeling up to it) why?I have added scientology.orgI won't actually discuss the why on this point, because it'll become a huge rant. And I'd prefer this thread to be...

I've been on here for 9 months and followed all the advice from the learning centre, forums and hubs from the best hubbers. I earned the first $24.00 in the first month and I'm only $1.00 ahead for the next eight. What am I doing wrong? All help will be greatfully received.
