Something that has always baffled my mind about the Christian God is Heaven and Earth. God placed Adam and Eve on this world with no knowledge of right/wrong or good/evil. He placed a Tree of knowledge in the center of their miniature world that produces edible fruit. But, forbid them from the tree and its nourishment. Telling them they would die from its comprehension. Unbeknownst to them was DEATH. So like any good offspring they ate the fruit from the tree without repentance. Once the fruit had settled in the depths of their stomachs they realized they were naked and Adam and Eve scattered to cover themselves with twigs and leaves. God returns wondering where they are hiding and to his surprise noticed they had garments and he became infuriated for their betrayal of the Tree of Death, I mean knowledge. Cursing the snake to crawl on its belly? (Snakes already crawl on their bellies). Cursed Eve to go through painful births? (Spitting a child out from ones vagina could never be enjoyable to begin with). God Forever cursed all mankind to suffer throughout Earth life cycles.
I know I went on a tangent here but it was for an admirable reason. God developed a human in his likeness, with intelligence and curiosity to boost. But punishes humans for the tools he/she/it gave us. Most Christians will expound that God has placed us on Earth to learn and develop. He allows pain, death, rape and so on because he gave man free will (Which isn’t anywhere in the bible). With that said, God is omniscient so why would he place men of free will that he knows will cause and do terrible acts against his/her fellow man?
Why is it a necessary to discover atrocities? Why the need to suffer? If the Christian God truly was all loving and omniscient would he never allow men of evil tendencies to exist? Sorry for the long ranting back to the main subject, Heaven. With an all loving God there wouldn’t be a desire for Earth. All souls (Not that I believe in a soul) would be in heaven. Heaven is a dreamland without sin, evil, hatred, and death. What a magnificent place this would be. If God requests mankind to know suffering or death he could donate knowledge without enduring the evils of this world and place us in an all loving environment. Despondently, this is not the case. There isn’t an all loving God in our universe. So we as humans must tolerate the turmoil that we create.
Interesting thoughts, but I fail to see a question for discussion.
To answer your overall concept would take as long a response (or longer) than the one you wrote. Mostly because you covered several key and somewhat different themes. I suspect, if you truly are seeking an answer to all of these, you will surely find them.
However, having said you don't believe in God, the human soul, Heaven and the like, I doubt that the answer will be obvious should you come across it. I don't know,
I'm right there with you at the oddity of the story at some junctures. I think differently from most. I don't know that there was any sin involved as we define it, more than it was just the inevitability that man would wake up to self awareness on the level he did, as opposed to all other animals.Once this happened, we lost touch with God. I suppose this is our main sin. But it is simply a sin against ourselves, not any deity.
Colorful stories are simply that to us now. We have to look into the story to find the meaning, if we consider any of this given for a reason. If we see it as nothing more than an ancient text, then of course it is bizarre.
More of a rant the forum was! The main purpose was that God created a heaven where no evils, death, and so on exist, but placed us on Earth where evil and such does exist. Surly an omnipotent, omniscient, and all loving being could do better.

One of the many stumbling blocks non-believers face in the path of christian doctrine is accepting the notion of a loving God, for how could such a God allow such terrible suffering down here on Earth? This is commonly known as the problem of evil and is usually answered by theologians with the...

An atheist at a presentation given by the philosopher William Lane Craig asked why, if the holocaust was morally abhorrent, is the flood not even more so? Hitler never favored the near extinction of the human race. The flood, if true, would have wiped out most of the population of the...

As a Christian, I understand through the teachings of Jesus that when we ask of something from God, we should ask it in the name of Jesus and it will be answered. I know how strong the intercessory power of Jesus is with Our Father in heaven.I have always had the question lurking in the back of my...
