I've been away for a while so forgive me if I am bringing up something already discussed. but ... I have a huge problem with Pinterest - there is a huge problem with themn and copyright issues - their terms and conditions state they have the right to sell on any images that appear on their boards and as a photographer I prefer to hold onto my own copyright.
how do other people cope with this -
I am asking people not to pin my hubs with my photos on them - I know they think they are helping but in actually fact they are making the problem worse.
any other suggestions?
is there any way to remove the pin button option from each hub?
thanks
I will not do this! I think they are working on it from what I've been reading
I don't really know how well this has been thought out by TPTB, but then what else is new in the world of online writing. Enough of our work is already stolen at will and this new site only abets the thieves in finding the good stuff. I'll wait and see before putting any of my photos out there on this site.
You might find these two forum posts on the topic useful. The pin button does make it easy for people to pin photos but they can be pinned by other means anyway. I now know some of mine were pinned prior to the button being add to our pages.
I think the criteria for our photos here also changed at some point since I joined photos are now classed as author content rather than hub content - this is in the terms of service and the updates at the foot of the page. You may already be aware of them. I think that it means author content and hub content have differences if you delete hubs or leave.

There have recently been several major forum discussions of this issue, and the HubPages team is apparently working on an opt-out solution at the subdomain level.
If others are posting your photos without your knowledge and permission, then it's a bigger problem than I first suspected..
HP has made it easy to do this, otherwise why have a button on one's own Hub pages for others to use without your permission? Sometimes I wonder what folks are thinking? But then, HP claims some ownership of our personal photos when we use them on our hubs anyway. I'm considering not using any of my own photos anymore despite the fact HP wants us to use original pics. Hub-22 seems an apt phrase for things here lately.
The way I see it, I cut all my images way down for the web, so if anyone wants to copy them all they are getting is the 100kb or less shadow of the real image, most of which are 300/400kbs in size.
If I wanted to sell these photos, I'd put them on a site where they couldn't be downloaded, or just showed a thumbprint, and all people could do is take a screenshot.
But I don't want to sell them, and even if someone wanted to use them for commercial purposes, they'd still have to contact me as I still hold the originals.
You did see the other thread where Flickr have taken action against Pinterest?

Just a note that there is a forum post at the top about disabling Pinterest pinning on your Hubs.

Thanks for the update on this; it is good news that we have the option.
I had a problem with pininterest taking over my internet explorer program. Everytime I'd open a new tab a pop-up window would show up repeatedly saying it couldn't find any big pictures or videos on the page. It was quite odd, thankfully I Norton was able to quarantine the files and the problem has since been fixed. But I thought people might like to know.

We added the Pinterest "Pin It" button to the small collection of popular social-sharing buttons at the top of Hubs on Thursday. Pinterest has rapidly become one of the largest social media traffic drivers to HubPages, already substantially larger than Twitter and Reddit. Maddie wrote a...

On my newest hubs the little P for pinterest is not showing on the photos. Also sometime the pinterest icon on the left works, and sometimes it doesn't.

Today, I'm unable to pin from ToughNickel to Pinterest. I get that message about spam.

I am working on an as yet unpublished (as of 12-30-2011) hub about Marquette, Michigan. I found some relevant photos online that allow commercial use, and I'll include the best of those in the hub. I also found some good, relevant photos that I can't use because the license says no commercial use,...

Okay, Hubpages. I was giving you all kinds of love because you have a track record of being sensitive to copyright issues. Because of that, I'd started posting my original photo essays here even though they make more money elsewhere. Now, you've joined the ranks of sites more concerned about...
