   Just watched the movie "Game Change" for the second time.
   It's a behind-the-scenes, step-by-step account of how the McCain campaign came to select Sarah Palin as the Veep nominee in 2008.
   
   They needed a bold move. There's no denying picking the female hockey mom governor of Alaska fits that criteria...
   
   1. With Mitt Romney the assumptive GOP nominee in 2012, who do you foresee as his Veep candidate? He needs to pull in the far right. How will he do that?
   
   2. Alternatively, feel free to use this space to talk about Sarah Palin...
   (or anything else related to US politics).

      1. I think Marco Rubio. Or maybe someone we've never heard of, like Sarah Palin was at this stage of the contest in 2008.

      As always a thought provoking question.  I really am at a loss on this one because you are right, if Romney is the guy, he needs huge help if he wants to win and I do not see that person out there. I have heard Mark Rubio's name tossed around but he will,not work. He is a freshman and we know where we are right now after a freshman is sitting in the Oval office. I do not think the country will do that again. I like Rubio but he is the future, not now.
      
      Sarah Palin, what can we sat here. But I do wonder why the left is so afraid of her. She is running for nothing, has no influence over anything, yet the left relentlessly attacks her. I cannot put my finger on it. I know if I was Obama I would not sweat anything Palin says, yet they do.

      I don't understand why Mitt would need to pull in the far right - who else would they vote for?  We really need to start ignoring those folks.  I'm hopeful he'll pick someone who could conceivably be President, but hey, call me crazy...

         I was thinking Romney would ask Santorum, until Santorum left the race today. I also believe Romney has to pacify the far right, but should our country cater to people who are more worried about personal home issues instead of our economy and health care? I can't believe Romney is pretending his successful health care plan failed, the man is a compulsive liar. D's are notoriously lazy when it comes to voting too. The thing about Palin that makes thinking people insane is that she is stupid. She doesn't have a grasp of geography that grade schoolers have. Plus she didn't even finish her own term as Gov. What does that say about stick to it until the job is done? I"m not happy with all Obama did, he needed more experience. But I'd still rather have him than lying R.s Now they are saying it's no big deal Obama got Bin Ladin? No Big Deal?! Bush was on an aircraft carrier with his bomber jacket saying Mission Accomplished how many years ago? It's ridiculous, and all our troops should come home to help those who lost everything in natural disasters. And while I'm at it, Obama has to get a set, Unemployment is slowly going down, Bin Ladin is big, and the R's block everything he does. I notice any normal R's are not commenting on the far Right. And Santorum was talking about Relgious Zealots. Hello? He's a Zealot. I could go on..

      Ron Paul has a lot more follwers/voters than main stream media will let the people know about. See his websites, the official campaign one and Ron Paul flix, even youTube.
      
      Romney is the establishment, big money candidate, and we will never get Constitutionally aligned and truly free in our liberties with him and his ilk, just like Obama and his...taking us down the wrong road deluding people in their thinking with bought off mainstream media
      
      the left and the right are the same when its big money involved, they are all fighting to maintain their "pie"...but as Ron Paul recently stated, the is no  "pie" left to eat up, the nation is bankrupt...
      
      a Constitutionally aligned economy is what is needed, not more fake fiat money changing hands and being created out of thin air

      WIll the "capital" win (Hunger Games reference), or will Katniss and people like her win?  It's obvious which side Romney, and which side Obama would be on, if they were to be transported into such a world.
      
      Either one of these would be a major game changer!

   It might be easier to pick who would be a good complement to Romney if we had any clue what Romney is or what he stands for or what strengths he brings to the table. And I mean this sincerely (Jean, you framed the issue perfectly).
   Someone strong in foreign policy would be good.
   Someone big on conservative "social issues" would be good.
   Someone with personality would be good.
   
   I liked Huntsman and was disappointed he dropped out prematurely. He never got his day in the sun. Santorum took a double turn instead .
   He's got the international chops.
   But I doubt the USA is ready for a Mormon Squared ticket!
   
   Maybe Chris Christie?

      Chris Christie is in a lot of hot water...or is going to be. Apparently, he's been governing by ALEC big time. Used a LOT of tax monies for corporate gain.

   Right now the obama campaign is hoping Romney doesn't pick Rubio.  Obama will lose the Hispanic vote in FL and might be enough to get CA to go Republican.  Plus that choice would make the Tea Party more enthusiastic about going to the polls.  Independents too.  If instead he picks a token woman, a token black, or another pasty white guy, there will be a lot less passion for Republicans to go out and vote.
   Maybe Hilary?
   
   As far as Sarah goes, I'd still do her, but she have to do something special to get my vote!

      You think Romney would every pick Hillary (certainly not Hilary Rosen, his wife's nemesis, LOL).
      I was hoping McCain would do that, actually!!
      
      Any "token" Romney picks will be seen for the pandering it is.
      But he's simply gotta do it. He cannot go with any pasty white guy.
      It's a challenge, for sure.
      
      I applaud your honesty on Palin.
      Sex appeal sells.
      Jack Kennedy didn't score all his votes on his civil rights platform, we know that!

   He doesn't need the far right , he needs the hispanic vote if he tailors his message to htem he will win, EASILY one of the largest voting bloc's right now. Obamba, has deported more than any other president in history. Wake up Spanish People he is not for us, he is playing the hispanic voters. He has done nothing for the hispanics.

   They are quietly trying Condoleezza Rice on several fronts. I don't know if that will float though. But I do think Rice might make a better candidate than Palin.
